If the inside word turns out to be correct and Frank Scelfo and Kevin Fouquier are headed for the Cajun football staff, fans who harp on getting local coaches to recruit local athletes will be getting a two-for-one.
Both Scelfo and Fouquier have roots in South Louisiana. Both have coached in the state on both the high school and college levels, although Fouquier’s stints came 15 years ago. Both have recruited extensively within Louisiana.
And that’s just the recruiting end.
Both have served in coordinator roles, Scelfo for eight years at Tulane and Fouquier last year at Florida International after serving as assistant head coach at Middle
Tennessee for three years.
UL head coach Rickey Bustle has repeatedly said that nothing is official on either front, but personnel at athletic departments at their two current schools are under the opinion that both are headed to Lafayette.

Scelfo is still on contract at Tulane, but those contracts end soon with the Green Wave’s firing of younger brother and head coach Chris Scelfo in November.
Fouquier was one of the few coaches retained at Florida International when Don Strock resigned and was replaced by Mario Cristobal in mid-December.
One criticism of some Cajun fans in chat rooms and message boards is a perceived lack of “locals” on UL’s coaching staff. Of the 13 members of the regular coaching staff (Bustle, nine assistants, two graduate assistants and strength coach), only three had any Louisiana ties when they joined the Cajun staff — Bustle’s three seasons at UL Monroe two decades ago, Tim Rebowe with all his prep and college coaching in the state, and Troy Wingerter with all of his career spent at UL.
Whether that’s a valid criticism or not is subject to debate, but if Scelfo and Fouquier are indeed the heirs apparent, it can’t hurt the program from a public relations standpoint.

I like both these guys so when will UL's interim Presidient allow an announcement to be made?
What is the latest on the OC and DC search for Louisiana!!!
DaddyCajun.~.
That last time that DMcD interviewed him, he had said that he was going to keep his options open until he had time to meet with others at some coaches convention in SA,TX. I think that convention will convene next week. I would expect something week after next. I am sure that he knows he wants these two guys, but either just wants to wait around in case Norm Chow or somebody decides he wants to come run the offense. Either that or he hasn't yet decided on the position coaches and wants to announce them all at the same time, or both, or neither.Quote:

Why doesn't he just go with Smith. that would be easier for the rest of us. We should all just go with Smith.Quote:
