Re: New Orleans Bowl tickets are going fast
And the bowl has known this for the last 10 years!!! :)
In all fairness, I'm not sure a 6-6 team, even with Tyrell Fenroy and the gang, would have generated this much buzz for a bowl game. It's all coming together at the right time. I wish they got their much-deserved bowl trip. But overall, it's coming together at a magical time.

Ok, we've done pretty well so far ... now for the important question; can we party in the dome?
Oh yeah, see everyone there!
I wonder if they will extend an invitation to UL during this game for next year's game?
Re: Should we be happy with 18000?
So I just hit up ticketmaster agin, looks like SDSU will have a very small crowd. If you put in you want 4 tickets you can get them on in section 114 I believe it was, this is on the 50 yard line right behind the SDSU bench. We should put the redzone in this area like we do at home. I also put in to try and buy tickets in the third level and it looks like it isn't open yet.

We're gonna rock the $#@#!* outta the 'Dome!!!

A very beautiful thing! Think our resume is starting to look pretty good to 35 bowls?
If VT doesn't pick it up maybe we get an invite to come back and play Michigan ... that would be sweeeeeeeeeet!

With all 18,000+ of its allocated tickets sold, UL is making quite a splash into the Bowl picture. According to Scott Farmer, this should put UL into the top 10 (out of 70 schools) in bowl ticets sold. The New Orleans Bowl is a great thing for UL, and even though the game hasen't yet been played, I'm sure the NO Bowl Committee is already looking forward to extending our next invitation!
The next BIG test for UL fans will be when UL is selected by another Bowl and our fans will have to travel a more significant distance. I suggest we start saving a few pennies so that when that time comes (and it will come) we can make another part of the country shake their heads in amazement!
Re: Where ya eating at in New Orleans
Great breakfast spot with new orleans flare is "Ruby Slipper" on the corner of Common & Magazine!!! Great place off of canal is Mandina's. Best dinner spot is Irene's on Charters.
A Ragin' sendoff: UL football team safely arrives in New Orleans
Now, 40 years later and under a new name, the school is finally returning to post-season competition, and Caldwell plans to wear that same hat while watching the UL Ragin' Cajuns face the San Diego State University Aztecs in Saturday's R+L ...

Unless FIU's stadium capacity is not 23,500 this year, then that is incorrect. They only averaged around 78% capacity or just over 18K attendance

I think they key is regional match ups. I think we travel well and sell tickets to bowls in Houston, Dallas and Shreveport (Paying attention to those ticket sales, Indy Bowl?) in addition to New Orleans. Mobile would be good if the date was moved up significantly.

Makes the Independence Bowl look like geniuses for taking NIU.

Re: New Orleans Bowl tickets are going fast
Slappy that is the post of the day----This was probably the ONLY way to get revenge on those _______s for not choosing UL and if you think about it----really hurting our program which obviously needed a boost---Can I call upon you and some more on this board to send appropriate letters to the editor of the Shreveport paper????? Think I will even try if I can figure out how to do an E-Mail!!!

The Hawaii experience won't be as good as they would've gotten with a packed Superdome for S.Miss-Louisiana, either.
I don't think CUSA wants to lose the NO Bowl tie and I assure you the NO Bowl doesn't want to lose CUSA. It just worked out the way it did this year. After going to Hawaii, USM is going to be glad to return to the NO Bowl in the future. Just what UL will do to help improve the image of the NO Bowl this year is going to put a few more CUSA ADs liking the invite to future NO Bowl games.

I don't think CUSA had an option available for the NO Bowl ... if anything, the NO Bowl committee may rethink it, but I don't think that is in their (NO Bowl) best interest.
