Recruiting: Robichaux's Press Conference & Radio Show

Don’t know if anyone was listening to the coach’s show at Pete’s, but I thought I’d share part of the conversation. On BEV, Jay teased that he’d be asking Robe to elaborate on a statement he made yesterday(hinting that it dealt with RP comments). What was said was that this is the FIRST recruiting class based on using a completed Russo Park as part of the lure....He went on to talk about how much talent is being added in the fall, and that we’re seeing a difference with three fulltime recruiters on the road, and that he expects things to turn around to what we’re used to...
I’m not taking a position on what was said, except to hope that he’s right about things getting turned around. Just thought you’d want to know what was said... :)

I’m not taking a position on what was said, except to hope that he’s right about things getting turned around. Just thought you’d want to know what was said... :)

It doesn't matter where you play if you cannot identify talent.

I guess Robe is on the road, which is a first. He has not traveled recruiting since b4 my son played here. That is news.

Everybody will take the "talent is on the way" spin for what it is. Been there. Done that.

Only coaches allowed on the road are paid assistants and head coach. Wells and Talbot are the paid coaches. The statement 3 coaches on the road infers Robe is one.

However, that contradicts what he said Saturday on O-Zone. Robe said there he does not travel for recruiting, which has been my understanding for a long time.

Which is why I asked. I can't remember the last time he went out and actively recruited.

So one would think our local media would ask the question straight up. But they won’t and all we can do is speculate.

School-owned media. Who cares about recruiting jibber jabber. Same bs. Different year. It's just conversation.

The ballpark is nearly empty. They are in the put up, or shut up stage now. They need a good season next year, or the school will likely look elsewhere.

Next season will be interesting. Coaches likely coaching for their jobs.

Interesting bit from Robichaux's press conference regarding recruiting

He mentioned how fans would always complain that all we did was pitch but we needed to recruit hitters. He said:

"I don't recruit, my recruiting coordinators recruit" and then finished it up with maybe now fans will see how important pitching is.

So basically we allowed this program's worst hitting coach of my lifetime find and recruit all of the players on this team? And we're still confused about why we suck?

Well if he’s not doing so now, then he needs to re-evaluate his choice of profession.

He may want to cancel interviews and the coach’s show for the rest of the season. And Bab cancel his weekly radio appearance.

The things they say are making things worse in the eyes of the public

Robichaux has allowed his loyalties to failing people drag his program down to where we may not even make the tournament. That's beyond unacceptable.

Everybody knows we suck. Robe refuses to fix it, he deserves whatever the school chooses. I'm done wasting my time ranting about a crappy team the head coach refuses to fix.

We can be stubborn, frustrating and have a “football expectation” mentality where we always expect our teams to win... but his response was disappointing and not what I expected to hear from him. It’s not our fault. But it’s ok to have expectations. And when things don’t meet our expectations, it’s ok to voice them. Oh wait... I am supposed to accept it because it’s baseball and it’s just different... BS.

That is actually good advice. Nobody is buying their recruiting bs. When the media and a losing team start blaming the paying fans, its time to shut up.

Hopefully, he is signaling the recruiting disaster is coming to an end and he will finally bounce Talbot. Maybe when Talbot destroyed the pitching staff, that was the last straw.

Interesting he said in two interviews this week he doesnt go out and recruit.

Is he saying this horrible roster is not his fault? If so, why has he not fixed the problem?

Maybe he is signaling the recruiting disaster is about to end with Talbot getting the boot.

PLEEEEZ get these coaches off the radio for the next 4 weeks. They are not helping themselves at all. These cats are trying to sell us beachfront property in Montana. Make it stop.

Dad—Robe talked about JT’s and Wells’ travels to recruit—inferring, imo, they were doing the majority of traveling.
