But what is considered the highest peak every program has ever reached?

<b>Louisiana 2005: Co-Sun Belt Champions Is As Good As It Gets</b>
Louisiana, formerly known as Southwestern Louisiana, has been playing college football since 1902 and throughout that entire stretch we struggle to find a definitive season of note.

The school has three co-championships, taking a share of the Big West Conference in 1993 and 1994 and then splitting the 2005 Sun Belt Conference with Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe.

With a pick out of the hat, we come up with the 2005 season that ended with a 6-5 record.

Honorable Mention: 1993, 1994

They got it wrong,those were decent seasons just not the best.

The best team to hit a football field in any respective era was the 1943 version of the Ragin' Cajuns.

The UL team of 1943 was an All-Star team made up almost entirely of the best players from ranked teams the year before.

UL was undefeated and won the Oil Bowl. The only slight on their record was a tie to an All-Star team like their own. The team that tied UL had started the season had no uniforms waltzed in Arkansas asked to borrow uniforms and proceeded to defeat the Razorbacks on their home turf.

UL redeemed the tie by winning the Oil Bowl against the same opponent and thus preserved an undefeated season with the best team ever to hit the field in the history of collegiate football.

That is an awesome story and should be sent to these unknowledgeable mofo's.

I agree that it's an awesome story, but because it was an all-star team, and not truly "our" team, it doesn't really count in my eyes. jmo

Go to Arkansas. Borrow uniforms. And then whup em'. PRICELESS!
