BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — UL lost starting tailback Undrea Sails to a fracture in his left leg in the second quarter Saturday against Western Kentucky.
Sails was carted off the field in obvious pain after getting tackled early in the second quarter. An X-ray showed that he had a leg fracture.
The senior entered the week as the Sun Belt's fourth-leading rusher with 374 yards and two touchdowns on 84 carries. He rushed for a game-high 58 yards on 13 carries before leaving the game.
UL head coach Rickey Bustle was unsure of Sails' status for the rest of the season, although he said it was not good given the nature of the injury.
Cornerback Dwight Bentley (left ankle) and defensive tackle LaQuincy Williams (knee) were also hurt in the first half. Bentley did not return in the second half.

Series history
The Cajuns improved to 3-0 all-time against WKU.
UL won the previous two meetings in Lafayette: a 17-14 win in 1992 and 38-24 win in 1998. The Cajuns won only two games each of those seasons.
Road warriors
In beating WKU, the Cajuns won their Sun Belt road opener for only the fourth time in nine tries.
The Cajuns won their first conference road games in 2008 (44-35 over UL Monroe), 2006 (6-0 over Florida Atlantic) and 2004 (Florida International (43-34 over Florida International).
Three of those losses came to Arkansas State (52-21 in 2007, 39-36 in 2005 and 26-20 in 2001).
Nice leg
Kicker Tyler Albrecht made a career-best 49-yard field goal in the first quarter to give the Cajuns their first lead of the game at 10-7. The junior had his first multi-field goal game with 25-yarders in the second and fourth quarters, respectively.
Albrecht is now 6-for-7 on field goals this season, including four of 40-plus yards. His lone miss was a 51-yard attempt at Nebraska.
Family ties
UL fullback Matt Desormeaux, who missed last week's win over North Texas with a knee injury, hauled in a 2-yard touchdown pass from Chris Masson in the first quarter.
It was Desormeaux's third career catch and happened Saturday with his parents, Bill and Patty Desormeaux, in the stands.
Desormeaux caught his first college reception last season on a 16-yard pass from older brother Michael Desormeaux against Kent State. He also made a 13-yard catch earlier this season against LSU, where his father played college ball.
Together again
UL cornerback Dwight Bentley and WKU receiver Anthony Sheppard were prep teammates at south Florida powerhouse Pahokee High School, which has won five Class 2B state titles in the past six years.
The Blue Devils currently have at least a dozen commitments set to sign with college football programs in February.
There are a number of ex-Pahokee players dotting current college football rosters, including Janoris Jenkins (Florida), Nu'Keese Richardson (Tennessee), Pernell McPhee (Mississippi State), Martavious Odoms (Michigan), Micanor Regis (Miami), Brandin Hawthorne (Michigan), Artis Ford (Ole Miss), Vincent Smith (Michigan) and Carlos Lammons (Buffalo).
Six former Pahokee players have gone on to play in the NFL, including former New Orleans Saints linebacker Rickey Jackson, current Arizona Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin and Denver Broncos cornerback Alphonso Smith.
Odds and Ends
UL's Grant Fleming, Scott Hayes, Undrea Sails and Terrell Richardson and WKU's Tyrell Hayden, Jared Clendenin, Jake Gaebler and Taurean Smith represented their respective teams during the pre-game coin toss. The Cajuns won the toss and deferred to the second half, while WKU decided to take the opening kickoff "» WKU jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, marking the sixth time in six games this season that the Cajuns trailed in the opening period "» The Hilltoppers had led only once all season, taking a 7-0 lead against South Florida on Sept. 12. USF rallied for a 35-13 win "» UL receiver Ross Goodlett caught his first pass of the season with a 7-yard reception in the first quarter "» UL receiver Javone Lawson made his third career catch early in the second quarter on a 19-yard touchdown reception.
