Thread: Cajuns lose Sails to a fractured leg

  1. UL Football Cajuns lose Sails to a fractured leg

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — UL lost starting tailback Undrea Sails to a fracture in his left leg in the second quarter Saturday against Western Kentucky.

Sails was carted off the field in obvious pain after getting tackled early in the second quarter. An X-ray showed that he had a leg fracture.

The senior entered the week as the Sun Belt's fourth-leading rusher with 374 yards and two touchdowns on 84 carries. He rushed for a game-high 58 yards on 13 carries before leaving the game.

UL head coach Rickey Bustle was unsure of Sails' status for the rest of the season, although he said it was not good given the nature of the injury.

Cornerback Dwight Bentley (left ankle) and defensive tackle LaQuincy Williams (knee) were also hurt in the first half. Bentley did not return in the second half.

This is not good. We don't have much behind him.

Definately sucks to lose Sails, but with the use of McGuire and even incorporating that WR motion we should be able to still move the ball like we need to, I just hope Sails has a strong recovery from that injury.

Any idea if he is out for the season? It would be nice to have him back the last few weeks or possibily for a bowl game if we get there.

I was thinking the same thing but then I realized that if we make a bowl game we should "ride the back" of the new RB (Walker).

The impression I got last night was that Sails would be done for the season. Bentley will likely be out/limited for at least a week or two, if not more.

Actually, I feel that the Bentley injury is even worse than the Sails injury at least in the short term. I think that we can keep up our running game output without Sails, but the loss of Bentley against an explosive passing team in FAU hurts our chances next week. We need another corner to step up and quick.
