UL's baseball team experienced another night of frustrations in Wednesday's 17-6 loss to nationally ranked Rice in Houston.
Relief might come this weekend for the preseason Sun Belt favorite Ragin' Cajuns in the form of Arkansas-Little Rock as the programs play a three-game conference series at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock, Ark. Game 1 is at 6 tonight, with games at 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
Both teams have struggled this season. UL (6-12 overall, 1-5 SBC) has lost 12 of its last 15 games and has opened conference play losing its first two series for the first time in program history.
The Cajuns, off to their slowest start since 2003, are 2-6 on the road this season.

UALR (4-13, 1-3) can relate after opening the year 1-7. The Trojans are 2-6 at home this season.
UL leads the all-time series, 33-13, and has won nine of its last 11 over the Trojans.
The Cajuns have not lost to the Trojans since a 12-11 loss on April 30, 2006.
Despite Wednesday's loss to Rice, the Cajuns took positive steps at the plate.
They pounded out a season-high 14 hits, including a 3-for-5 night for freshman Matt Goulas.
Matt Hicks, Thad Griffen, Scott Hawkins and Josh Logan added two hits apiece.
Hicks added his third home run of the season with a two-run blast in the fifth inning, which extended UL's streak with a homer to four games.
But Cajun pitching was rocked as freshman Michael Cook (2-1) suffered his first collegiate loss giving up six runs in an inning and a third.
The 17 runs scored by Rice were the most allowed by the program in seven years.
Moody blues
With a win today, senior left-hander Hunter Moody will tie a program record with his 26th career victory.
Former Cajuns Andy Gros and Scott Dohmann currently share the career wins record.
Moody is 3-1 with a 2.42 ERA this season in four starts. The preseason all-SBC selection has logged 24 strikeouts and seven walks in 26 innings pitched.
UL junior right-hander Danny Farquhar (1-3, 3.46 ERA) and UALR lefty Ashur Tolliver (0-2, 11.12 ERA) are Saturday's probable starters.
Senior Brent Solich (0-3, 5.82 ERA) is expected to start for the Cajuns on Sunday, while the Trojans will go with right-hander Levi Laughlin (2-0, 3.45 ERA).
Odds and Ends
A strong start is important to the Cajuns, who are 4-1 this year when scoring in the first inning. But they are 0-10 when trailing after six innings ... UL is 3-4 against left-handers this season, but only 3-8 against righties ... UL senior Nolan Gisclair brings a five-game hitting streak into this weekend's series. Gisclair, the 2007 SBC Newcomer of the Year, recorded four homers and 10 RBIs last week to raise his batting average 74 points.
