For all of you defenseive Guru's out there, Should we have an easier time running the ball on UGA's 3-4 than a typical 4-3 SEC defense? Seems like if we can spread them out, there should be some holes open up for the running game. Someone please enlighten me.

When you figure that we have no film on their defense and how they run it, I imagine that we will come out very conservative early on and have a tough time moving the ball. I'm concerned because we can't afford to do that for very long.
We'll have to use the pass to set up the run. If we can utilize the play action, cause some confusion and bother the LB's, we can have some serious success on the ground, especially with delayed hand-offs and screens. It is paramount that we soften them up in the middle with an intermediate passing game, and take a few shots down the field. I think the coaching staff knows that, and will make it happen.
actually thats the game plan against a 4-3 defense. you use the polar opposite of that to play effectively against a 3-4 defense. you have to set up and maintain a decent running game in the A and B gaps to try and collapse the LB's in more to stop the run or have them bring in a safety in the box to assist.Quote:
