I just did some calculations from Bo's stats above, and if we only give him credit that 30% of his shots were from 3-point land, then he'd have at least 4000 career points.

    Just a thought.

was UL in division IA at that time? I was too young to ever have even heard of Bo Lamar, but did he make it to the NBA?

Yes and yes, but the D1 designation didn't start till the 1973-74 season. Prior to that UL was in a classification called Univrsity Division.

When D1 came along, Dwight was already in the ABA.

Louisiana made the move to what was then known as "major college" during Dwight "Bo" Lamar's career at UL. After the UL move in 1971-1972 Louisiana was the nation's ninth-ranked major college team.

At a special NCAA convention on August 1, 1973, (after Bo) all major college schools were reclassified as Division 1

Bo averaged 29.2 points in six NCAA major/D1 Tournament games in 1972 and 1973 (3-3 record). He was the high scorer in all six games.

Dwight played in the Pro's mostly in the ABA and did play for the NBA Lakers, but for some reason never really took off.

Prior to moving the NBA Julius Irving was a contemporary of Dwight’s in the ABA. Here is a nice comparison to show he was productive as a pro. In the 1974 ABA playoffs Dwight Bo Lamar averaged 34.5 points per game. Julius Irving averaged 33 points.

I played for LSUNO {University of New Orleans} in 1971 and we played Bo in the NCAA regionals and got beat, I believe, 114-107. I do know we held Bo to around 40 plus points. He was way ahead of his time. It was magic to watch. We had our All American in Butch Webster, but Bo was better. Don't worry, I'm not a trader. My nephew, Kyle Plouhar will be number 74 on ULL's football team. My teammate Teddy Harrell and I [Mike McFaddin] actually bought Bo a drink in a nightclub after the game. Teddy and I were pretty much bench warmers and saw alot of great players that year. 1971 we were ranked number 1 in the state the day we drove to Lafayette to see the great Bo Lammar.
