Doc, there is no doubt that money is some of the reason and the fact that any FBS program is allowed to count one FCS victory towards bowl eligibility. The P5 conferences are going away from scheduling FCS programs, but the G5 will always schedule FCS programs, the question is which ones and how often? Louisiana Tech hasn't scheduled McNeese since 1990? We've played McNeese in 2007 and now 2016, time to look at others in future scheduling.
"Feel tough" is a metaphor.
Getting an easy win from some lowly conference or division member is one thing, going out and actively searching for that when scheduling FCS teams is another. If we need a 1-AA slump buster, maybe we need to do more searching into why we are slumping, and not championing our confidence boost from beating a team we would hate to be associated with.

probably game prep time was lost because this McNeese game caused record number of postings, that alone I guess would be reason not to play so the coaches can prep more ... although the extra postings might make some want to play them...
--Don't know the %s of winning playing the FCS schools but it is high----So we had to make good money Saturday (wish I knew) and we got a W---now when the bowl hand outs come, there is always the possibility of this win being the difference of going to a bowl---If it is the difference then playing is surely a no brainer as the bowl brings so many rewards---Also I think Hud played the statement very nicely by praising their programs---and even though we hate it cause we want the separation, old farts can really enjoy the win!!! lol
I say that unless you can beat then on a consistent basis, play them. We have speculated for years how good we are. If you can beat San Diego State, East Carolina, and Tulane with a previous staff's players but stumble with your own players you have a hollow foundation. We need to know what we can do and need benchmarks to monitor our progress.
Start getting proactive with the future schedules. I'm sure our coaching tree branches out extensively...We should be able to get some "similar" teams in a home and home type situation and start going after the 2 for 1 deals (GET AGGRESSIVE).
Get home and homes with:
CUSA, MAC, MWC
Get 2 for 1 future deals with:
Lower Tier Big 12 (Iowa State and/or Kansas)
Lower Tier Big 10 (Rutgers, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, Maryland)
Get Neutral "Home" deals with:
Upper Tier Conference foes looking to recruit New Orleans Area
-Michigan
-Texas
-Ohio State
-Penn State
-Michigan State
-Oklahoma
-USC
-UCLA
*Split every dollar down the middle. Win/Win for both schools IMO.*
Let me grab a hold of this job and show them folks how it's done.
