I know we didn't have a choice... apparently... but that whole situation sucked. Apart from the game itself... we imprinted another bad experience on our fans, for a fan base we used to pretend we'd like to grow.

Even though those Boise guys sitting next to us were good guys... if we ever wanted Boise State to sign up with a home and home again... that early hot mess trashed that deal.

Don't we have a choice? Can someone point out that we agreed to play a game regardless of anything to honor a SBC contractual obligation to provide a team. Seriously Ga Southern could have played this game instead of us.

I am fairly confident we not only agreed to the game and time, but did it so that WE COULD be on a minor network. I am really glad it was not seen in NOLA except on ESPN 3. The score doesn't have near the impact that the game actually did.

That was the most miserable game experience I can remember. The game was only a small part of the misery since its basically what I expected. For day games, instead of announcing "Welcome to the Swamp", announcer should say "Welcome to the Gumbo Pot".

There was a true safety concern for all those that played, attended the game, and worked the game.
Don't know what would happen, but highly doubt this school or conference is willing to challenge a contractual agreement in court. More than likely, your game won't be televised and there would probably be a good chance that the rest of your games won't be after you've ____ed off ESPN because they didn't receive their compensation after selling the game rights to the American Sports network. Do you really want to go down that road and have you brand tarnished? You really think the SBC or UL has that type of bargaining power?

I agree I dont want to go down that road. I just didnt realize we were contractually obligated to play the game at one of those times.

You could, in advance, tell the SBC you will not participate in games before six PM in the first three weeks of September. That way ESPN and nobody else is surprised. We do it not for exposure, but to tell recruits you can be on national tv, regional tv, whatever. That is an important part of the recruiting package you sell the kids.

Simple solution, spend the $4 million to buy our own top of the line production equipment. Tell everyone else to kiss our arse we are playing at 6:30. Better crowds cooler temps and we can make the money back by selling our games to some other tv provider as well as larger attendance.

I didn't like the time at all but the SBC nor UL is telling any network they aren't going to play on a given day or time. We are in a different world where even P5 teams are playing games at less than idea times to accommodate TV. It wasn't just us either. I'm sure Boise State would have preferred this game at night as well. Apparently they didn't have the stroke to get it done either.

I think the best thing is for the schools to coordinate with the conference and come up with a system that gets put into the contracts that will minimize how many times one particular team has to deal with this issue.

But that requires implementation of some key recommendations of the Alden report...uhh never mind

Hey schedule maker! When we do a home and home with Boise the next time, lets play up there in September and down here in November. Everyone wins.

Where the hell was any promotions for Boise St coming in? 22k? Did we do anything to promote the game to the area? Anything at all?

I know the time, but we get Boise here and little to no push to alert the city or surrounding area of this opponent. Am I wrong? Did I just somehow miss the huge marketing campaign behind our season opener?
