This is what I understand as well. Apparently the bonuses that are being talked about were paid out in the past from Bowl revenue and not part of the regular athletic dept. budget. When the SBC changed the rule and would not allow this as a legitimate expense, it was apparently a game changer. Another reason to depart the SBC ASAP!

However, with that said, UL needs to pay these bonuses and make sure everyone understands the rules moving forward. Either include it in the budget or make sure everyone understands bonuses are only paid if it can be expensed as a bowl expense.

Only way I think that changes the situation is if it happened right before the bowl. If the change in ruling was known before football season and the change in status made clearly known to the coaches prior long before the trip to New Orleans was scheduled then that's still on the Administration. JMO

I'd be willing to bet that this was just found out just before/right after the bowl game, which is why people are scrambling to get it covered.

Look, I don't think SF is the long term solution for UL's AD position, but I can't imagine he is just completely incompetent.

We may not all share the same opinion on Farmer and the Admin, but we all agree that Karl is the ultimate ___. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if this was done in an "oh by the way" fashion standing on the trophy presentation stage.

You know if Karl had any sense and actually gave a damn about us staying around, he'd advocate for ____canning the whole revenue sharing thing and let the bowl attendee(s) keep their money.

My understanding is that Hud took care of it by contacting someone to raise the necessary funds.

So Hud apparently is our head coach, chief marketing executive and fundraiser.
