No rumor, that is fact. He is not fast enough to stretch the field like Thompson or Maxwell. Good kid and good family!

No different look than you are getting with Pettis. Both are big traditional TE's with little speed to stretch the field.

Somehow I thought that's what wide recievers were for. If the guy can get open and catch the ball downfield, that's what I'm looking for.

Coming out of high school, Pettis was said to be in the 4.6 range according to the poster that was close to him. Was that time overstated?
It seems like he was used more as a receiver last season (his true freshman year)

Don't know if his 40 time was overstated, but he has put on some pounds in his natural growing process, and according to people close to the team, may have grown out of the TE position to the OL.

Well, that may not be a bad thing as both starting tackles are graduating. Converted te's typically make very good lt's

That depends upon the offense you run. In the spread, unless you are playing short yardage situations quickness in a TE is preferred. TE's that can stretch the middle of the field are at a premium of pro football as well as college. Athletes that can not run well are nothing more then situational players.

Saw Tatford on the sidelines, he'd have to add some serious weight to play tackle.

I agree. He's got a big ole tackle butt. Should have decent feet. We may see him there next year.
