One of the best coaching jobs in University of Louisiana history. After a tumultuous 1-7 start to the season while becoming the first school in the south to smash the color barrier, coach Beryl Shipley's historic 1966-67 team went on a tear the rest of the way going 19-4, to finish 20-11. UL was nationally in the top 10 by all three rating services and ranked as high as 2nd in the nation by Don Carr's Sports Rating Service.
