All of what you mentioned, it just depends on which game and which time to point to. Earlier in the season, way too many 3's especially since we shoot it under 30% as a team so it really doesn't make sense to shoot 25+ per game. We don't really have any guys who can get to the rim and break down a defense creating open shots. We've been trying to get the ball inside more, especially to Evans and there has been some success there but nothing too consistent. Bottom line is we just aren't that talented, especially offensively and we lack basketball smarts. Too many dumb fouls at dumb times in the game. If you will notice, we routinely get outshot at the FT line by large margins.
Patience
I agree with this, if for not other reason than I really have no choice. We are locked in with coach Q for a while so we have to hope things can turn around next year. The only issue is what type of damage will this year do to his ability to bring in NIL money next year to try to bring in better talent? I will still go to the games but winning only a few games all year will have to make recruiting tougher especially if we can't bring in the same type of money.
Sampsons first team at Houston was worse than when he took over, huge jump year 2 and never looked back.
Coach Q has 6 top notch players in the Queue! We are crossing the burning sands right now. The land of milk and honey is next year. (For smart people, this is the time to lock in some great season tickets)
Redbug--I don't disagree with what you are saying The issue I have is everyone was saying how talented a group of players Coach Q signed (including Q saying it himself). In fact, there were several comments of the signing class being the most talented in school history--in addition to us signing our highest ranked high school player in our history. When you also consider the NIL budget this year was 4x higher than we had last year, the results are very disappointing. Either we did a terrible job of evaluating talent or we are doing a terrible job of coaching the talent. I think it is a combination of both of these.
