Thread: Ragin' Cajuns survive Texas State comeback attempt to keep bowl hopes alive

  1. UL Football Ragin' Cajuns survive Texas State comeback attempt to keep bowl hopes alive

The UL Ragin’ Cajuns kept their bowl hopes alive with a 42-39 victory over Texas State on Saturday at Our Lady Of Lourdes Stadium.

Despite trailing 42-20 with 13:02 left to play, the Bobcats recaptured the momentum.

But facing a third-and-13 with just 2:54 left to play and clinging to a three-point lead, UL quarterback Lunch Winfield connected with Shelton Sampson for a 19-yard gain to ignite the game-saving drive.

Almost coached our way out of another W. I’m glad we held on.

Des just got way to conservative in the 2nd half. TXST can score quick, very quick. Good thing their defense is terrible!
Hey a win is a win at this point. At least we still have something to cheer for as fans and a bowl is still in the possibilities.
    Beat A State!

It appeared we started trying to milk the clock when we were way up in the 3rd quarter. So they stacked the line and stuffed our run game. Then they went heavy on passing which is their strength. Didn’t add up well for us. But we pulled it out. Hope our injuries weren’t too bad.

whole damn comeback from TXST was initiated by 6 dropping another pass In His Hands.

That's not play calling, that's called not executing the play.

This "play calling" has become so out of control that folks get on this board and instantly jump on this theory.

If the route is run accurately, time machines perform their function and pass from Lunch to Sampson ends in 6 dropping the ball, that's is not a bad play call, that is called non-execution.

I'm not saying that im not ____ed. I'm not saying that Dez is close to perfect. What I am saying is that this OMG PLAY CALLING! is simply ridiculous to say when the ball is hitting these receivers in-between the numbers. Who gives a damn what the play was when it was not executed. Now, if our WR corps were making catches (CATCHING THE BALL) and gains were not moving the chains, or our WRs were getting smoked from 2 throwing up "hospital balls", then yes, that is unproductive and dangerous play calling. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. Catch ball, Cajuns win. Drop passes, Cajuns don't win.

Of course I know this doesn't fit the accepted narrative of OMG PLAY CALLING! from damn near everybody and there will be many responses saying WTF that's blasphemy! Guess what, I could give a ____.

To pull the plug on our offense at halftime with our 3-6 team was flat out stupid dumb....a team with embarrassing losses to Rice, E Michigan. Flirted with disaster vs 2-7 USA and blowing away winnable games with terrible.on field decisions vs USM and Troy.

Des.....please play 4 f'ing quarters. There is a time in almost every game to call it quits. Many people call it victory formation. Until then be the aggressor and finish the damn game the right way.
