Speaking to someone this morning, he never bought in to Shultz nonsense with Tech. In fact, he spoke several of their money people that he still has ties, and they knew it was going to be a battle in the East side. Apparently, the SBC did its due diligence in listening the several other programs interested in SBC membership down the road including Ohio.
But he also said the SBC is committed to ULM as a member and the best decision for the West was Louisiana Tech at this time. Long term, I still believe that the 2027-2028 is the deadline for current AAC members to meet their new revenue mandate for athletes and those programs will be willing to listen because there will be no buyouts involved if they are forced out and probably replaced. And yes, ECU is one of those programs that is 50/50 at this time outside of UAB, FAU and North Texas. JMO
If Tech is invited I will feel a little like Texas A & M when Texas was invited to the SEC. We have worked hard for a clear separation and recruiting advantage in the perception of Louisiana fans and recruits and now it will be given away.
