Potentially more revenue from donations, attendance, bowl games and NCAA appearances, not to mention higher profile nationally.
You think a brand that no longer exist is great? The PAC 12 no longer exist and outside of Oregon State, Washington State and Boise State you have the same teams as the MWC or the Big West. There is no way the travel cost is break even if all the numbers are accurate either. This was a no brainer for Maggard.

Not buying that, but they still currently have the funds to wait. It's very possible they end up in another conference with either Big 10 expansion or Big 12 when the deck reshuffles. Time will tell because it's all speculation. But in the end, the PAC 8 is not the boondoggle some thought it was on paper.

You may be correct, but perception is reality!

Maybe. Maybe the perception of the PAC 12 would be enough to significantly raise attendance and donations. Like average football attendance from 20k to 40k, and big donors we haven’t tapped out yet promising extra millions per year in contributions if UL could find its way into the PAC12.

I don’t think either of those are there. Though, that shouldn’t have made the administration not even at least make a phone call to TX State and the PAC to see if there could be “something” on the table, then assess internally if there would be a huge impact upwards in fan support amongst Acadiana.

It certainly never hurts to have discussions and brainstorm.

Perception? Go read what the fans of Oregon State and Washington State think of this current brand. It's amazing what perception has become.

    Perception doesn't pay bills.

I understand your sentiment, now visit fan boards across the country including Oregon State and Washington state and you will see another perception. The only ones celebrating in this alignment is Texas State. They can now claim they are losing to a few better programs like Boise State rather than getting their asses whipped in the SBC West.

Inconvenient Truth: Texas State has NEVER beaten Louisiana in football. NEVER.

The travel cost numbers you mention were the numbers used to justify Louisiana staying put.

Texas State's numbers are much lower.

This article from 3 days ago says $8 mil. half that is $4mil
