Your estimation of UL's baseball fan support is way high. How many games did we get over 2k actual people this year?

Coastal has a great marketing team. They try new things, like simultaneously live streaming from the (record sell-out) crowd when they hosted Clemson. Free concessions at football games. 50-yard line season tickets are $230 all-in, ours are $400-500. Their social accounts actively engage people and other schools.

    UL has John Fogerty.

The Sun Belt is lucky to have Coastal and Southern Miss.

    S. Miss is loaded with 3rd/4th/5th (even 6th) year players.

They probably knew their fans get drunk and start fights on the road

Kevin Foote's article in today's Acadiana Advocate states that both USM and CCU pay their players a lot more than the Cajuns do. In the article, Kevin list other factors for the fall off. They include the chemistry lost by Debarge and Taylor moving on, relying on freshman usually results in a transition year, and the injuries to the pitching staff were unexpected.

Looking forward, Kevin says there is reason for optimism if the freshman stay and continue to develop.

Detroit and seattle are atop the american league standings without a payroll in top 15
Brewers won division last year and are not in the top 20.
Ironic if college needs money amd pros doesnt "nowadays"
MLB teams can keep players for 6 years once they arrive in the show. Also, major spenders have to pay a luxury tax. College teams can lose an entire team after one season. See Marshall football. Professional sports are actually purer than college athletics these days.

Great point. I am not automatically opposed to those things.

People who thought that we would be as good or close to as good as we were last year was fooling themselves. DeBarge, Taylor, and LeFluere leaving…real easy to replace.

Come on, we had ridiculously poor leadership out of the upper class group this season. We aren’t a program that can rely of freshman to win in a pretty good league.
