I don't know of a laundry list of p5 athletes coming out of STM football. Can you name some? Sincerely asking.

I said “from our area” not at STM. Because this “UL doesn’t recruit here” thing isn’t unique to them. I think most here know the STM guys who have gone P5 in recent memory though.

Do you think we should take guys without D1 talent to appease local schools? I will say unequivocally that we shouldn’t but missing on guys who do have that talent (like Griffin Hebert) is brutal and probably hurts our relations with those athletes schools.

Brennan Breaux and O’Neal Lochridge came to UL has a fallback after BR didn’t work out. One was a good get.

Here's a thought...get the best you can, have them poached for realized upside. Then, after years of that, recruits get better as they know UL is the place you get better and get seen/paid. UL gets better than everyone else with high end recruits choosing to springboard here. UL wins and is the standard...without NIL needed. TSAB has to buy players, UL finds them.

Take best player you can get.. There's no point worrying about how the kid might "fit with the culture" anymore. Any player with character who also shows flashes of P5 ability will be gone.

Just establish yourself as a great place for a player to get reps and put on muscle until they're ready to jump at P5 offers

I never said sign guys without D1 talent. There have been several kids go to other mid major or FCS and be successful. Why aren't we getting more of them? That was the point of my original post.

Zeon wasn't all that great in our losses to 6-6 GA State and we were down multiple scores vs 6-6 stAte when was hurt. He was very good in 4th quarter vs 7-5 TX State. Also after Ben was hurt vs 3-9 UAB.

Hindsight his running ability would have likely improved our chances in the game vs ODU.....we'll never know


Point being.....we were very likely a 6-6 team with Zeon as starter for all 12.

Which guys specifically? Name a few. If we didn’t offer, like I said I agree it’s a huge negative. If we did, why aren’t these coaches supporting local like they want us to? It’s a two way street.
