I remember bumper stickers that read “Certified coonass” with the backside of a raccoon.

There are several mascots that could be considered for the Ragin' Cajuns. Here are a few ideas:

    1. Bayou Billy: A charismatic and energetic character dressed in traditional Cajun attire, complete with a wide-brimmed hat, suspenders, and boots. Bayou Billy could showcase the region's Cajun heritage and love for music and dance.

    2. Ragin' Rooster: A fiery and enthusiastic rooster mascot that symbolizes the fierce competitiveness and determination of the Ragin' Cajuns athletic teams. The rooster could wear the team colors and exude confidence and energy.

    3. Cajun King: A regal and proud mascot dressed as a Cajun king, adorned with a crown, scepter, and royal robes. This mascot would embody the majesty and strength of the Ragin' Cajuns teams.

    4. Cajun Cruiser: A lively mascot inspired by the culture of Mardi Gras, complete with colorful feathers, a jester hat, and a joyful personality. The Cajun Cruiser could bring excitement and festivity to games and events.

5.Cajun Rougarou: The Rougarou is a mythical creature from Cajun folklore, often described as a swamp-dwelling creature with the head of a wolf and the body of a man. A mascot inspired by the Rougarou could embody the mysterious and powerful spirit associated with Cajun legends.

    6. Cajun Gator Wrestler: Alligators are synonymous with the Louisiana swamp lands. A mascot dressed as a Cajun gator wrestler, wearing wrestling gear and showcasing their strength, could represent the tenacity and fierce competitiveness of the "Ragin' Cajuns."

    7. Cajun Bayou Guide: Cajun culture is deeply intertwined with the unique environment of the bayous. A mascot dressed as a friendly Cajun bayou guide, with a wide-brimmed hat, fishing gear, and a warm smile, could symbolize the connection to nature and hospitality of the "Ragin' Cajuns."

    8. Cajun Mardi Gras Reveler: Mardi Gras is a significant celebration in Louisiana, known for its vibrant parades and costumes. A mascot dressed as a Cajun Mardi Gras reveler, wearing a flamboyant outfit with feathers, beads, and a colorful mask, could capture the festive spirit and sense of community.

    9. Cajun Hot Sauce Bottle: Hot sauce is a staple in Cajun cuisine, known for adding fiery flavors to dishes. A mascot inspired by a Cajun hot sauce bottle, with a playful personality and a "ragin'" attitude, could represent the spice and boldness associated with Cajun flavors.

    10. Cajun Gumbo Bowl: Gumbo is a beloved Cajun dish that combines various ingredients into a flavorful stew. A mascot in the shape of a large gumbo bowl, with arms and legs, could showcase the diversity and unity found within Cajun culture.

    11. Cajun Fleur-de-lis Warrior: The fleur-de-lis is a symbol commonly associated with Louisiana and its French heritage. A mascot dressed as a fierce Cajun warrior, adorned with a fleur-de-lis emblem, could embody the strength, courage, and pride of the "Ragin' Cajuns."

    12. Cajun Voodoo Priest/Priestess: Voodoo has deep roots in Louisiana's history and culture. A mascot inspired by a Cajun voodoo priest or priestess, adorned with colorful robes, beads, and symbolic accessories, could represent the mystical and spiritual side of Cajun traditions.

    13. Cajun Shrimp Boat Captain: Shrimp fishing is a significant industry in Louisiana, particularly in Cajun communities. A mascot dressed as a Cajun shrimp boat captain, wearing a raincoat, hat, and holding a net or steering wheel, could symbolize the hardworking and industrious nature of the "Ragin' Cajuns."

    14. Cajun Fais-do-do Dancer: Fais-do-do is a Cajun dance party where people gather to celebrate and have a good time. A mascot dressed as a Cajun fais-do-do dancer, wearing a colorful outfit and dancing shoes, could capture the festive and joyous atmosphere of Cajun gatherings.

It's a medieval thing rebranded as Cajun. Not original.

I am not fond of it.

You could totally do it. It would be original and all you would have to do is make it like a wolf. It would certainly turn some heads !

What really should happen is. Pick 4 mascots! Purchase 4 costumes. Top 4 would be Alligator, Rougarou, a Rooster, and a Catahoula Dog and see what builds the most attraction!

If any fan actually purchase an outfit and show up to games they would be so many people come up around them for games and taking pictures.

If you want to become a mascot that’s all you would have to do.

True that...you're just opening a door that will cause more missidentification...I applause the poster for his ideas...at least he's putting them out there...the problem is that the majority aren't very marketable...like someone dressing up as a bowl of gumbo...good luck with dat

I've had my head in books since before the first grade.

The Loup-Garou did not travel with the Cajuns to Louisiana, it was a much later adoption.

This was not a Louisiana thing until recently except in Terrebonne Parish.
