I know the webpage states, "only exchange money if you are certain the other party is trustworthy", but how do you know if the person is trustworthy?

The only two online payment platforms that offer protection to buyers are Venmo and PayPal's "goods and services" option, but that option charges the seller a fee, so we are back to paying fees. I think "avoiding fees" was the whole point of this ticket exchange idea.

Exchanging tickets through Ticketmaster offers the peace of mind knowing the transaction is 100% legitimate. The last thing you want is someone coming to you because they had their money stolen by a scammer using your platform/website.
All completely valid points. I think my initial form creation was just for free, but I put in a drop down to sell/buy. I think I'll peel it back and describe it purely as a free ticket exchange for unused tickets. If people wanna offer money or beer on their own, that's lagniappe.

I'll make adjustments later today to make it clear it's for the exchange of free tickets (looking/giving away).

I think using it for free tickets is an excellent idea. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

...and thanks for taking kindly to my comments. They were in no way a knock on you, your idea, or the webpage you created. I was simply letting you know that when money starts changing hands it presents a wide variety of issues.

How about this: If you are looking for tickets for free or willing to purchase them, start a thread asking for tickets.

If you have tickets to sell or give away, start a thread asking if anyone needs them.

Most folks will give tickets away if they are now going to use them. I have never asked anyone to pay me for tickets that I wasn't able to use.

I didn't take them as a knock at all, I appreciate the feedback. Definitely agree on money exchanging being the wild west.

Even using it for free tickets will take money out of the University who is constantly seeking for and in need of additional revenue.

I really like this idea. I highly suggest holding onto it. I like the idea of being able to get tickets for a good price if I happen to be in Lafayette for the week. Thanks Red Tails!!

    Temporarily true.

It could get Ordinary NonFans who have never seen a game (but will act on free) to go go to their first game and turn them into a money spigot for the University.

How do you figure? If I give away my paid tickets then that person will spend money on drinks and food. If I don't give away my paid tickets and don't go they in turn make nothing off of food and drinks.

If one can’t understand how having a place to get free tickets readily available before walking up to the ticket booth to acquire one up to game time can serve to diminish revenue, I really can’t help you.

I don't know if we need another Ragin Cajun Fan to Fan ticket exchange as a season ticket holder can either sell or transfer to anyone else tickets they aren't using through your Ticketmaster account. All you need to receive the tickets is an email address. I have transferred tickets to both RCAF and non RCAF members. You can do this for all sports that sell tickets. If you are looking for tickets, I suggest asking on RP or on the Ragin Cajun team or fan pages on Facebook. I'm fairly confident someone will have tickets they are not using. Also, this only applies to the regular season and not the conference championships.
