They are calling it "cardinal." (ex. "black" hoodies, "white" hoodies, "cardinal" hoodies).

Look, I get it...I have dozens of pieces of UL clothes and a variety of shades of red.

I know we're not gonna get vermilion and I'm more than fine with that.

Heckfire, we don't yell "vermilion" and "white" back-and-forth at each other; its "red" and "white."

And not being in the textile business, I can still see where getting vermilion colored garments as opposed to red colored garments is just gonna be more expensive.

    But don't call it "cardinal."

    It's insulting.

Your 50 year memory is defective because black is a post 2000's implementation.

    Thanks Gerald Hebert.

Its no coincidence, black is the cheapest to manufacture. Vermilion among the most expensive, historically at least.

Again, not having much knowledge of the textile industry, but red is a primary color.

Vermilion is a mixture of colors and that formula for creating vermilion the color increases the cost. I'm guessing it just adds another step (and cost) to the manufacturing of the garment.

Turbine, care to critique my assessment?

My memory is in fact defective as a result of occurrances which have transpired over the 50 years, especially the last one.

So, I am 2/3rds correct for 28 years and 100% rock solid for 22 years. Considering my current state, that is pretty darn good . . .

Correct. Also the smaller the production run the more expensive it becomes.

Historically Vermilion was made from a powdered mineral, cinnabar. Cinnabar however was found to have a certain level of toxicity so Vermilion became really hard to produce mid 20th Cemtury.

Fire red and tomato red are close.

I'm assuming this is the location at the Heritage apartments?

    Vermilion red and Evangeline white.

So basically we’re red because it is a primary color and cheap.

Unless the baldwin era was 50 years ago, my school traditional wore red and white for the vast majority of that time period. You never saw black during or prior to the stokley days.
