It doesn't matter who Napier recommends because he is leaving. I love him for what he has done here and appreciate his recommendations, but you should never let the guy walking out the door select his replacement. Period.
I TRUST DR. MAGGARD

Probably went something like this.
“ billy who on this staff is ready to take your place and keep things going”
Billy “ Mike D”
Dr M “thanks”
Fear the bird
He has another word
Only one candidate had a four year audition
Flying colors was the rendition
It easily could have ended with a result of exclusion
But in the end the needle was full inclusion
Only one candidate submitted to two interviews
CMD and CBN could not have provided any better reviews
It is now time for the victory bell to ring
And when it does CMD should be the thing
Me too... As long as Dr. Maggard added "I will take your recommendation under advisement." and meant it.
On the Great Scott show yesterday, Maggard stated that he had asked CBN for his recommendation and that it was one of many factors that he is considering in the hiring process. I believe that statement to be true.
…..Just wondering what the crowd will be thinking when the plane with the trail message reads “I LIKE MIKE” as it circles The Groto! One thing,as the various needs of a head coach are in Mike’s favor……not changing the whole terminology of probably the off def and spec teams! Everything will be Napish…Like I posted Des could be the head or assistant at UL….a position guy or more at Fla or on another staff in college!
Was it an option for Mike to go to UF with Napier?
I played sports at UL the same time as Mike D. I’ve said since our playing days that one day he will be an extremely successful head football coach at a major program when it’s all said and done. Leadership, passion, work ethic, attention to detail and a refuse to lose mentality.
Mike has the experience, support and mentality to keep this train rolling.
The folks on here framing this as an underwhelming hire, “absurd” promotion, etc. need to realize the value Mike D would have as a hire. I, for one, wouldn’t bet against him. I’ve seen him work, seen him lead and I would support 100 percent.
Now, let’s get this game today!
Damn! If only we had a quarterback that could recognize when people are open even when he’s in trouble.
