This article was done pre-commitment. If he enrolls at UL during the first summer semester, he won't be going to camp at LSU.

No, he is 2020. He has two options;1) He can enroll at UL on his own dime and sign in December, put on scholarship in January for spring semester. 2) He can play this season in JC, sign in December and transfer to UL in January on scholarship. He did not attend JC because of academics, so he can finish either semester. I prefer the 1st option.

How many years of eligibility and does his choice of 2 options effect that?

He would have 3 years left to play either way because he gets a RS year. The second option allows other programs to evaluate him off his JC year and offer late. That is not the best option for UL.
