I watched the 1st 5 innings. Painfully fugly baseball. It would have been very possible to beat that team last night. Our HS pitching top 2 (when healthy) would be very competitive, way better than the UNO arms last night....our HS hitting would lag at bottom of order. Our top of order would (TCU/OSU commits) are same or better than what UL top of order showed last night.
Chase Compton- Slidell
Ryan Leonards- Notre Dame
Tyler Girourad- Teurlings
Jace Conrad- Lafayette
Tyler Frederick- Acadiana
Dylan Butler- Archbishop Shaw
Daniel Nichols-Castle HS (Indiana)
Chris Sinclair- West Monroe
Brian Bowman- Lafayette
There’s your everyday 2012 lineup. The last team that finished under .500 for Robe. Lot of public school kids.
Haha. This is awesome.
I wonder if I had I made the observation "We don't seem to play well when its cold" and posted game temps from games we won that were in the 80s and games we lost that were in the 60's, and said my experience is that its more difficult to hit and throw when its cold.
I'm sure some would say its just a coincidence. I highly doubt that any would have gotten their feathers ruffled like this has.
It's what makes RP fun I guess![]()
I'm pretty sure sportsfanatic21 did not say, "There has never been a successful athlete who came from a private school."
I'm sure we could all list 20 athletes who came from private schools and turned out to be successful professional athletes.
I can personally list 20 from private schools, 20 from public schools and 20 who were awarded a "scholarship" or "grant" to a private school they couldn't afford to attend.
He did not. But he did say “maybe Robe and staff should spend a little more time recruiting some tough public school kids.”
there’s no evidence that he would get the same results as 2014 and 2016 if we had a lineup full of public school kids. 2012 had more public school kids and finished with a record below .500.
The big thing 2014 and 2016 had going for them was Matt deggs. While not around in 2016, his influence was still being felt with the players still on the roster when he was there.
