I was harping on the same thing last night. You have to let the qb keep sometime to keep that RPO dynamic.

Our TE coach could probably teach him a thing or 2 about how to run the zone read

He did it keep it one other time, other than the TD and it was a one yard loss. It is obvious he doesn't want to run the ball or he has been coached to not run it.
