I say that let's worry about ECU first.
I say that let's worry about ECU first.
For what it is worth, and not that it matters at all, but UL has a winning record vs the teams that they played that are in the NCAA tournament.
We finished 8-7 vs them. Here is a breakdown of the teams:
La Tech--Cajuns defeated them twice early in the season on the road 13-0 and 8-3
MVSU--Cajuns defeated them twice early in the season at home 15-0 and 9-0
North Carolina--Cajuns defeated them early in the season on a neutral site 7-1
Iowa--Cajuns lost to them at a neutral site early in the season 1-2
Michigan--Cajuns lost to them twice, once early in the season and once middle of the season both oat a neutral site 0-9 and 2-7
Texas A&M--Cajuns split with them in College Station in the middle of the season losing 0-1 then winning 2-1
BYU--Cajuns defeated BYU at a neutral site in the middle of the season 7-4
Arizona State--Cajuns lost to them in the middle of the season at a neutral site 1-3
Arizona--Cajuns lost to them in the middle of the season at a neutral site 0-2
Houston--Cajuns split with them late in the season in Houston losing 0-2 in game 1 and then winning 4-0 in game two.
Overall outscored these opponents 69-34.

What is the toughest regional?
In terms of which regional site may produce the best heavyweight fight in a potential winners' bracket game, Baton Rouge has a slim lead on a number of contenders. If No. 9 LSU beats Mississippi Valley State and Louisiana beats East Carolina, Saturday's winners' bracket game could be a great prelude to an inevitable rematch on Sunday. Geography placed the Ragin' Cajuns in Baton Rouge as an unseeded team, but Louisiana is one of the two or three best unseeded teams in the field. Pitcher Cody Trahan has been terrific down the stretch for LSU, but if Dani Hofer isn't at 100 percent, the host may struggle to keep up with Louisiana's bats and two-headed pitching attack with Ashley Brignac and Donna Bourgeois.
Which teams will make it to Oklahoma City?
Projected WCWS field: Florida, Houston, Stanford, Michigan, Alabama, Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA
Of course, when Fresno State and Louisiana square off on the first Thursday at the Women's College World Series, forget I said anything.
I don't know. I think that it would come down to matchups. What kind of pitcher would be better against the type of hitters that ECU has. Who's to say that Cuevas couldn't start? How's that shoulder coming along? If she's up to 100%, I would put her on first to get her back in the swing of things and save Bourgeois and Brignac for later. I don't know if I would want to save Cuevas for a possible LSU matchup just because I would think that she would be a little too rusty against a team of their caliber.
hey Z,
good luck in the regional this weekend. I'm tickled at what the Techsters have done and its gonna be great following some post season games for a change
I'll also, as you know, be pulling for UL this weekend. I have a couple of reasons. 1) i hate lsu 2) my wifes co'worker has a daughter playing for the cajuns.
