Yup, been saying this the past two years. 1,750 starting positions, and nobody to transferring thinking they’ll see pine time. Throw in the starters with secure positions where they are, I’d bet that 1,750 is greatly reduced. Like Jordan Brown, for example. Yeah he got paid, but probably never envisioned sitting the bench like he did.
Saw FAU’s stud is now a Florida Gator.
The portal is the beginning of the end of college athletics. If you can’t buy a team and win every year, interest will fade.
*Now 351 D1 teams, 1,755 starters.
If there are that many out there, we should be able to find somebody.
I wonder when someone will track a season of portal players and document what, other than money, improved basketball wise. How many improved their pro market value. And how many ended up in a weaker position. I would hope there’s a percentage that go for a chance at a more “prestigious”/marketable degree, but figure that’s a needle in a haystack.
My invite must have gotten lost in the mail.
Will the portal allow players to transfer sports as well?
Might be for a different thread, but speaking of transfer portal and other things the NCAA can't seem to manage, they sure came down on stAte. If I'm reading this right, soccer has to vacate records from 82 games?

You have got to be ____ting me.
Soccer????? Really??????
And football contacted a Division 2 player not yet in the portal?
Holy ____, Deon named his son the starting quarterback at Colorado before Jackson State's season was over, much less his son going in the portal.
Napier pretty much did the same thing.
If the NCAA not only isn't going to have to worry about the P5s cheating, but they are going to be complicit in holding G5s accountable for things the P5s are doing, this is just gonna be another straw on the camel's back.
What a ____ing joke.
