Our special teams have been "not so special" at times this year. If Dez makes the right call, it could be an addition by subtraction.
Addition by subtraction. Onward.
lets gopride pride and joy
Our punt coverage was exceptional. #1 in FBS in fewest return yards allowed and average yards per return.
FG.was pretty good too. Missed 2 FG and 1 XP over 13 game season.
0 snap issues with punts or FG
Kickoffs was our clear weakness on special teams. .
KO and punts were inconsistent at best. Coverage was excellent overall in spite of many poor kicks.
Returns on KO good. Some of our punt returns at beginning of year were scary.
I like this. ST are 1/3 the game. Call up ol' Beer Man in Nola (#84)
I don’t care what the stats say. We were not good enough, outside of kick coverage the second half of year, across the board on special teams. A change was needed.
Serious Question: I am not sure about how the stats work. For example, if someone catches the ball on 5 on the kickoff and 5 gets to the 20, does it count as a 15 yard return? This is despite the fact he could have called a fair catch, and it would have been a 1st and 10 from the 25? This type of thing happened several times this season. Maybe I am mixed up?
