Nearly a year after being knocked out of the No. 1 position by Michigan, Arizona received 23 first-place votes to jump from third back to the top spot in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll.

A 5-0 weekend at the Worth Wildcat Invitational moved Mike Candrea’s squad to 11-0 on the season and up two places to the No. 1 position ahead of Tennessee, who had two first-place votes and jumped two spots to second thanks to a 5-0 weekend of its own.

Previous No. 2 UCLA received four first-place votes but fell one place to third after dropping its first game of the year to Long Beach State. The Bruins finished the week at 2-1 following a sweep of Fresno State.

Texas, who moved to 10-1 on the season, jumped one spot to fourth, while previous top-ranked Michigan fell to fifth after opening the season 3-2 in Gainesville, Fla. The Wolverines suffered setbacks to Florida and Penn State, but rebounded to knock off the Gators along with nationally-ranked DePaul and Longwood.

Behind a 6-0 week, Stanford knocked Alabama out of the No. 6 spot, but the Crimson Tide landed at No. 7 after winning the FAU Dunkin’ Donuts Classic with a 4-1 mark.

Texas A&M and California also switched places in the poll as the Aggies took over the eighth spot and dropped the Golden Bears to No. 9. Oklahoma maintained its hold in the top 10, staying at the 10th position.

Oregon State posted five wins on the week to move to 8-2 on the season and jump three places to No. 11. Northwestern dropped a 6-2 decision to the Beavers but held on to No. 12 with wins over Cal State Fullerton, UNLV, California and Central Michigan.

Georgia stayed at No. 13 with a 6-0 run at its own Georgia Softball Classic, and Louisiana atLafayette moved up two places to No. 14 with an 11-0 mark on the year. Washington fell four places to No. 15 after dropping two decisions to an LSU squad that climbed five places to No. 20.
