The Ragin'Cajuns are not playing a game that will get the fans very excited. We play a lot of half court defense. We don't get a lot of three point hits, and we don't dunk very well, and do not create a lot of turnovers. These are the types of things that get the crowd motivated. If you do not do these things well, the crowd will be like the defense and offense, very predictibable and slow.

Marlin Ball reminds me of Floyd ball without the wins. Marty Ball reminded me of UNLV under the Shark who won a lot. In neither case are we getting enough wins, but Marty Ball could get the crowd motivated. Jesse Evans was a good mix. My only complaint about Jesse was our best players, and ususally several were never available until after the start of the spring semester.

Three count them thre post seasons under Jesse, one under Robert with mostly Evans talent, Marty two with a WIN in the NCAA, and still a work in progress under Coach Marlin. I just do not need him blaming fans for being flat because he plays a boring style of ball without the wins.
winning, to me, is exciting. We played a similar style of ball last year and were rocking 8,000 strong in the dome by the end of the year. That was because the team was playing well and consistent and also winning. I don't care if we press or rain threes all game if we find a way to play more consistent and win ball games. The very casual fan may want to see 85 points a game but if we aren't winning, it doesn't do much good does it?

I have been in a lot of post game press conferences where one reporter will feed off of another reporters question and the combination questions will lead to a comment from a coach that otherwise would not be shared. In this case however someone in attendance told me Marlin was not coaxed. If that is true my imagination got ahead of me and I need to find a way to get in touch with and apologize to the reporter.

Now that my first imaginations were wrong . . . I am reminded (by myself) that many times last year Marlin thanked and mentioned how the crowds were instrumental in the Ragin' Cajuns 11 game win streak to end the season.

So I now imagine (some people never learn) Marlin was thinking back to the great crowd support of last year when he said "We'll get the crowds back, hopefully, after the bowl season," he said, "and it will serve as a sixth man for us and help us."

I still don't take it personal that he was disappointed in the fan interaction for that game, we need to go ahead and do everything we can to create a home court advantage, perhaps next year we can practice home game itinerary at Midnight Madness.
