Abbeville men join home makeover show in Joplin, MO

"I lost my home in Rita, so i know the feeling of it."

When Pastor Robert Wells of Harvest Time Tabernacle Church in Abbeville was presented with the opportunity to join ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition crew building houses for Joplin tornado victims he didn't hesitate.

"When you can go help someone on their home and build a home for somebody and know that you're just a little bit a part of it, it just does something for you."

Among Wells group from Abbeville was Kernny Leblanc, who's spent his career in construction. He says they built the house from the ground up in only seven days. He says the crew didn't get to meet the family whose house they were building, but they did learn their unique story

"The guy was a fireman and he was on duty at the time of the tornado and he couldn't check on his home or family until about two to three hours later he went and found his house totally destroyed, but none of his family was hurt. That's a blessing"

In the end, the Extreme Makeover crew built seven houses in just seven days. Wells and Leblanc say they didn't think it was possible. Now they're looking forward to watching tonights show and seeing the final product.

"When you see someone that lost everything all of the sudden they have a big beautiful home, its just very gratifying."

"It just feels great just to know that you've helped someone."
