We seem to schedule for an expected split of non-conference. When you look at the lower level BCS teams, they schedule cupcake games for non-conference so that they can have a 4-0 padding. If a Kentucky or Vanderbilt wins TWO conference games, they become bowl eligible.

I just feel like W's will bring in the crowds and the recruits.
Well look at these numbers for a home game; use a 30k crowd at $15 per ticket; that is $450,000 ... we are getting $1 Million to go to Florida; we have a long way to go ... that is one of the reasons I fully expect (and even hope) our ticket prices go up some. If the ticket goes to $25 per game we can bring in $750,000 in ticket sales and that is starting to look impressive.

I am perfectly fine with this! Raise the prices, just not to a ridiculous level like BCS schools.
You are adding up revenue from tickets... I imagine its that x2 including food and product purchases.

We should play money games untill we start winning so many nobody wants to schedule us. By then we won't need them. I see them as opportunities to judge our progress. In the late 80's early 90's we almost won a few and famously upset A&M in a return game, by the time of Balwin we were a joke. Bustle didn't do a lot better, though we did beat K-state (not a true money game) and nearly beat Illinois. Skull drug by Nebraska and Georgia. If we start scaring folks again upset someone like Florida on the road.....we will know how far we have come.

I like what you're saying here. The best way to get respect is to take it from those who have it.

you still either have to pay for a beatable team to come here or have to do a 2 for 1 or a return game with no money. its not as simple as 5000 extra fans at a home game. a million dollar guarantee is A LOT of money. There is a reason small schools all acroos america play money games and we still have the 2nd or 3rd to lowest budget in america. play your money games and win some.

A letter from the TECH AD says that they would make 200K from a home game----but an away money game gets 1 MILL----They had about 5750 season ticket sales and They are pushing for 10K---Their athletic fund has 1100 members and they hope to get to 2000----Also they have approx, 31K Alumni!!!! Any idea of UL's numbers???

You guys are looking at this all wrong. You schedule an instate FCS program to open the season, get the rotation going like LSU did with the 1a programs in the state. You would get huge draws from McNeese and Southern. Then you schedule a home and home with a CUSA, MAC, WAC or MWC program. Then you schedule a 2-1 or 1 money game. If you do get the 2-1 then you drop the mid major opponent the year the AQ program visits Cajun Field. That gives you 1 automatic win (FCS), 1 winnable game, and a chance at an upset every year, then just steal two games on the road and win all of your home games and that gets you to 7-9 wins every year and a bowl game. If Louisiana were to win 7-9 games every year for the next 5 years and make 5 straight bowl appearances with 3 bowl wins you would see 40k in the seats in Lafayette.

Then you raise ticket prices across the board by $10 bucks. Leave the RCAF fee's as they are and start a grass roots effort to regain all of the former alumni who donate at the $500-2500 dollar level at LSU. Win back your lost alumni, create a student fan base much larger than it already is and start rebuilding the 35 years of lost fans.

I could give a rats _____ if people say we have a weak schedule, when you win that is all that matters. You think Boise gave a damn about that going to BCS games?
