Thread: Saints game blues

Complaining about refs is for losers. I know, I had to live through the 49ers years in the 80's. Bad calls happen. Some teams fight through them, others (like coach Schwartz) use them as excuses. The Saints have the greatest offense in the history of the NFL. They may not win the SB, but they are incredibly fun to watch. Can't wait till next week!

Blew the whistle, so the Saints should have kept possesion, break to the Lions for getting the ball.

Yes, that was a real nail biter ;-). Saints win by 17 and kneeling inside Lion's 5 yard line to end game. After two turnovers and shaky start, saints went on 31-7 run during the bulk of the game. Saints broke the all-time record for yards in a post-season game (previous record set in '61).

if only the Lions could have got a holding call go their way, that would have given them the 20 points or so they needed.

Super Bowl XL must still haunt you.

Jake ain't playing, "Leon" is long gone, and the OC who would not play Jake, and brought in "Leon" is the head coach in Green Bay. No doubt I pulled for Jake against the Saints because of the poor treatment when they wanted to win would have played him. We now have Brees, Payton in charge and I pull for the home town team. They earn everything.

The same thing happened earlier in the day in the BBVA Compass Bowl. SMU muffed a punt after calling for a fair catch and Pitt recovered. But one of the refs blew the whistle as soon as the ball hit into the SMU player's chest anticipating that the play was over. However the ball bounced off his chest before he could secure it and Pitt got on the ball. However the ref explained that since the whistle blew before anyone had possession they had to re-kick the ball. SMU made a successful fair catch on the second try.
