The story said Walker was headed to Northwestern State

So does this free up two extra scholarships for this year?

Since 25 is the max it doesn't matter how many leave any program.

I know the two teams in NC game were in the news (a couple years ago) for breaking the limit big time, but 25 is the max.

Now then, 85 is the total number so if you sign 25 every year, you have to lose at least 3.75 playrs a year if you never redshirt a single player.

If a school were to redshirt their entire signing class year in and year out, they would be forced to   10 players every year.

If a guy enrolls in January can they count that as a used scholly from the previous year? Does that then overrun the schollies for the previous year?

It seems as though there may be openings for a couple of more RBs on the squad.

I do believe that early entry players count against the season before's recruiting numbers but not sure

Besides what I mentioned earlier, lets say everything (scholarship wise) was maxed out this pass season (I don't know if it was) with 19 Seniors leaving Hud could only sign 19.

With Spikes and Walker transferring Hud can sign 21.

Now then, there was a lot of talk about some players leaving due to the hard workouts in the spring, I don't know if they were on scholarship or if their scholarships have already been given to walk ons.

Somewhere in the mix Hud could find 4 more openings if he had to . . . or not.

Bustle only signed 17 his first year which never fit with his later complaint about Baldwin leaving him with so few players on scholarship. Meaning, for various reasons coaches don't always sign the max

we had some leave like Richard Brooks and Mario Holman which opens up a few more. We also had a couple of early signees from last year which I believe counted against the prior year's class which may allow for us to sign 25. We signed that many last year as well

Holman wasn't in the article Zephyr.

The sign forward, sign back nonsense is so ridiculous. There should be a very simple rule. If the student signs a letter of intent, regardless of whether or not he enrolls, he should count against the cap for the following fall.

25, that's it, done deal. Many kids and schools get screwed over by some of the fine print on these #'s rules.

Are these the only two guys that are transferring?

I think there are a few more, but not nearly as many as I expected.

Why would you expect there to be many? Playing time? I would hope this season proved the point of hard work can pay off. Now I don't know if the coaches have exit interviews with any of the players and let them know what they expect for the following season ... if they did that could explain why only a few.
