We thought of the name "peppa pit" after we finished running a train at your mother's house. On the way to get our penicillin shots, we dubbed da peppa pit.

As for what Mike was saying... how would we differentiate those that are using U L L out of ignorance from those that are trying to capitalize or those that are being intentionally disrespectful? I can tell when I'm standing in front of them. A friend of mine's wife is a UL (USL) graduate. She has no clue or care about the naming issue and background. She still likes calling us "USL". She's stubborn as a rock, but also very sweet.
I was at the NO Bowl and I can't tell you how many people had UL Lafayette gear and said UL L on all the cheers. We have the #1 moniker in the country in Ragin Cajuns, but the most confusing university name to go with it. Until the university effectively brands itself LOUISIANA, this will never end. LOUISIANA is legal, it is who we are, and the university meeds ro provide officially licensed gear with it. It is what we all want, the merchants will finally have gear that will sell, we will all be consistent in what we wear, and we can universally be recognized that way.

With few exceptions, every "University of" refers to itself only by the state name, e.g. Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. A few use the reverse letters like OU, KU, CU. Some use standard letters like UF and UK. But they ALL refer to themselves by their state names.

Many of the stores mentioned are national chains and our merchandise, if popular enough, could be sold nationwide. IMO, Boycotting stores is not the answer. Providing LOUISIANA gear that is legal anywhere in the state and that people want to buy is the key. Businesses sell officially licensed gear. Until UL itself corrects this, it will continue to be a mess. Not only with merchandise, but with local, statewide and national media. We can call ourselves UL, but let's brand ourselves as LOUISIANA.

BINGO! This man just hit the nail on the head. You guys want a monicker that sticks out, yet you're copying off of the University of Louisville. When people from other parts of the country see a big red UL they think Louisville. Why not go with a BIG OLD "L" or an L followed by ragin cajuns? Or "Ragin L Cajun"?

I think Louisville already did away with the U of L deal. I think they want to be called the Louisville Cardinals athletically instead of University of Louisville. I guess U of L only works in The Waterboy. Damn you Jerry Reed!!!

Most places outside of Lafayette are p&g all the way. Rayne, Duson, Breaux Bridge, Cecilia, Opelousas, New Iberia, Youngsville, Broussard, etc. They forget what city they are a suburb of.
