You cant walk 50 feet on campus without seeing the name ULL somewhere on the on the campus.

For anyone to question the good that Rouses does for UL is downright insane!

This whole boycott stuff is stupid.

For you do do it correctly you would have to grow your own garden to eat. Although I have not checked with the garden store to see if they have an LSU or ULL poster on there wall somewhere. I hope for you they dont otherwise you would starve.
OH yes, you need a tractor plow the garden. I saw a guy at lowes with an LSU hat on one time so you are out of luck there to.
Damm your just screwed then arent you?
Because you would have place to go eat out, and no grocery stores to shop at.

You would never get to watch monday night football or ESPN again because they use the name ULL.

How about lets live in the real world dont we?
I'm all for the name crusade, but we need to realize that pretty much everyone who is passionate about it are also the people that would be reading RaginPagin. Most people in this community have no idea that it's an issue, and even if they did, wouldnt care one bit. How many Cajun fans were running around New Orleans on December 17th with ULL gear on? I saw tons of em.

The managers at these establishments... along with corporate marketing people... are who you should address, respectfully, in person or by letter or email. Respect will get you way further than disrespect.

Personally, I believe we should come up with lists of establishments in Lafayette that do the most for UL. Giving those businesses an exceptional amount of support and letting it be known why they are so supported is the greatest campaign for Lafayette-based UL support. Negative campaigning while trying to make new friends is a slippery slope.
THIS is the solution. Period. Thread done.

Thanks to country, the CajunDome is able to operate somewhat economically which does help UL. Lafayette is one of the hot spots in the nation for country concerts right now. The January George Strait and
Martina McBride (one of the great voices in music today) sold out very quickly. I know because I was
barely able to get decent tickets a few hours after they went on sell. Therefore you can have the opinion country isn't cool and that's great since life would be very boring if we all liked the same thing. However
millions of people and thousands in the area disagree with you. We do agree that supporting the Cajuns is always the cool thing to do.

There were some wearing USL Bulldogs shirts. Regardless... I personally still like pushing UL. I think the opposition is going to run out of supporters before we do. However, I don't think "boycotting" is the answer.

Inform store managers and marketing staff of our preferences. Support businesses that support UL.

Many people who refer to themselves as an alumnus of ULL do so without awareness that it is offensive to some. That is
especially true if the media in the area they are located in use that reference. Politely educating them usually takes care of the
    issue.

I agree with you. I was just making the point that boycotting will do nothing. The people that some think are disrepecting us have no idea that it is an issue. I think the points you make toward a solution are spot on.

I know you probably don't mind the USL gear yourself and you were just making a point, but I think it's pretty cool. I like throw-back stuff. I have a USL flag that looks pretty nifty hanging on my wall in my room and I want a throwback Cajuns helmet for a display.

So if anyone knows where I can get one, hook a brother up.

Moss Motors is one of the most egregious offenders. I still remember seeing their Cotton Bowl commercials from last year. If I was so inclined...I would take a can of red spray paint and right "move to Baton Rouge" on every car on the lot. Sweep the leg...no mercy.

JerryB is right, when you see a business do it they are trying to jump on the dollar bandwagon and steal from the UL public.

At first, the use of USL stuff probably wasn't good because it both confused the new name push and it was used by people disrespecting us. But, I think we are entering the time that "USL" throwback stuff is actually pretty cool.

Something about saying "Jerry Baldwin is right" just doesn't sound right.

As for what Mike was saying... how would we differentiate those that are using U L L out of ignorance from those that are trying to capitalize or those that are being intentionally disrespectful? I can tell when I'm standing in front of them. A friend of mine's wife is a UL (USL) graduate. She has no clue or care about the naming issue and background. She still likes calling us "USL". She's stubborn as a rock, but also very sweet.

But until the attitude is changed in this city and we stop catering to these businesses who can't seem to get it right, we'll continue to climb this hill.

    WE ARE UL!
Careful pal. The "house united" crowd on this board is all set to brand you as "creepy" or a "revolutionary" for these sorts of sentiments. Tamp down that Cajun pride, and go with the flow. Know your place.
