PERKINSTON - A.J. Magee left Gulfport High School two years ago searching for answers when it came to basketball.
Sure, he could shoot and dribble and even guard his opponent when he stepped across the time line.
But something was missing, and Magee knew it.
After a successful high school career, one that included a Class 5A state championship, Magee packed his bags and headed north to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College looking to become a complete basketball player.
He wanted to become a team player and was willing to sacrifice himself along the way.
With only weeks remaining in his community college career, Magee's hard work and determination has paid off.
The 5-foot-11 sophomore has developed into one of the top point guards in the state and has drawn the eyes of senior college recruiters, including those at Louisiana-Lafayette.
