"They had like a flicker to them and they kinda faded up and as they got higher and higher they got dimmer and dimmer."

Brad furman captured video of some strange lights in the sky outside his home on Gumbo Road, which is off E. Broussard, last night around 9:00.

Donna Aucoin and daughter Allie say they saw the same strange lights outside their neighborhood off Kaliste Saloom.

"My daughter and I looked up and saw like eight to ten bright lights and they were moving in a very slow manner."

So what were these strange lights? A plane, a satellite, a meteor shower? We asked meteorologist Rob Perillo

"I don't know what that was. I don't think it was civilian aircraft. It could've been military aircraft, but it's very hard to tell how high in the sky that is so it's really hard to determine what that was."

"No idea what it could've been. I kept thinking it's close to New Year's, some type of firework, however it wasn't moving fast."

"To me honestly it looked like those Chinese lanterns, that's exactly what i thought it was."

An air traffic controller at Lafayette Regional Airport tells us it's strange and says the lights don't look like any aircraft he's ever seen.

So it looks like this one will remain a mystery, at least for now.
