  1. UL Football Burnt Roux: Tyson Andrus

      Superman returns.

After spending his freshman year of college football as a bystander on the sidelines of the Ole Miss Rebels, defensive back Tyson Andrus has decided to return home and continue his playing career with coach Rickey Bustle and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

The former Northside Vikings star, who garnered the nickname Superman because of the many different positions he played successfully in high school, cited family reasons as well as pure unhappiness for his decision to transfer.

"I transferred because of some family situations that have taken place," Andrus said. "I also wasn't too happy up there (in Mississippi). It had nothing to do with playing time, but I just wasn't happy."
Andrus, who will be eligible to play for the Cajuns in the spring of 2007, will have three years of eligibility remaining.

"I dressed this past season, but I didn't play," Andrus said. "So I get the credit for not playing. It will count like a redshirt year."

He was great player in high school...I can't wait to see him in a cajun uniform.

Best news I've heard today. I was really hoping he'd decide to play with us out of high school.

He told a friend of mine that he was heading back up to Ole Miss this weekend. I've tried to get some clarification, but none has come yet. On all of the Ole Miss boards, it sounds like he's decided to stay up there. I'll re-post something as soon as I get definite news.

I just hope this young man makes the right decision for him. It seems like a difficult and complicated thing to transfer and sit out a year. Ole Miss is a really nice program and if he has had a change of heart and wants to return then we should support him and appreciate the fact that he was considering coming to UL. Sometimes we don't realize that we are in the best situation for us until we seriously contemplate leaving and make efforts to leave, sometimes making us re-commit to the first situation in the first place, whether it be job, football team, marriage, whatever...

Just my two cents... We should wish him the best and not treat this player and others like they are some kind of pawn (I know that is not what you intended, but I am on my soap box now and should probably get off... ;-)

Rivals just reported that he is headed back to Oxford to play for the Rebs. He says that he thought about transferring for "family reasons" but those are all settled now. That and he didn't want to sit out a year. I wish him the best of luck. As an Ole Miss fan, I'm glad he's back, but as a Cajun fan I would have loved to see him suit up in red and white. I hope he does well in the future. And good post, Miami. I think you're right. It's easy to get too caught up in this and forget that these are just 18 or 19 yr. old kids.

You are soo correct. Best of luck to the young man, unless they play the Cajuns.

As long as it is all on the up and up then I agree.

If he was using us somehow or for some reason vis a vis his situation at OM then I have a different opinion.

    UL Football Tyson Andrus

I just found out that Tyson Andrus, formerly of Lafayette, quit the Ole Miss football team for the second time. I was really hoping that he would work out up there, but it's obvious that it didn't...so I have 2 questions for you guys:

    1. Does anyone know why he quit again?

    2. Do you think the Cajuns would pick him up? He's a very talented athlete, and I would love to see UL add some depth...

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

From what I understand, he wanted to be here, but the coaching staff at ole miss refused to sign the paperwork. If they didnt before, I doubt they will now.

I don't know, tuffguy. That sounds a little off to me...Coach O is not the type of coach who would refuse to sign release papers. It was my understanding that Andrus left Ole Miss the first time b/c of lack of playing time, and he decided to come back and give it a shot. Although I'm not saying you're wrong, it just doesn't sound right to me.

But like I said, that's just an opinion, and I'm not saying you're wrong. I just think that there has to be more to it than that. Regardless, I also don't think that the Ole Miss staff would refuse to release this time around. I guess we'll see. thanks, though...

I hope not, Ole Miss will always have a place in my heart. My dad graduated and mom attended ole miss. I was an ole miss fan until I started going to UL and my passion for college sports finnally got personal. I have heard good things about oregeron, but thats just what I heard.
