With James Butler, Javone Lawson, Darryl Surgent, Harry Peoples, Jamal Robinson and Devon Figaro we MAY have the best top to bottom receiver corps in the country. While they differ in style, ALL are extremely gifted receivers.

Hawk, if they win 2 they own the state....if they win 10, they recruit a LOT of out of state kids, fewer instate.

I won't watch them; I won't send them money; I won't be a fan... but as long as they win 10+ every year and we take care of our business, their success is good for our recruiting in state. They win 10+, they recruit nationally and maybe only take 8-10 kids in state. They win 5-6, they recruit the state and take 18-20. Sadly, they will always get nearly every instate kid they offer, and I'd rather be in the hunt for #9 or # 11 than # 19-#21.
It is a fact that the better LSU does, the deeper their reach is recruiting-wise. They fill their roster with athletes far and wide, and with the select athletes they want from Louisiana. It places some of the best athletes, still, in the nation, left in Louisiana, and the region, to battle over. Our improvement places us in a position to recruit some incredible athletes that a lesser LSU system would be recruiting.

You are also right in that a diehard UL fan does not want the "other" state schools to do well, season-wise or bowl-wise. That won't stop me from congratulating some of my Tech friends if Tech happens to beat TCU (ain't gonna happen). But again, I am about UL. They know it and respect it. I also respect them not truly wanting us to do well. If they have a sack, I expect it. Only the sackless talk all of this other BS.

Everyone around me will attest to it... I told everyone at the beginning of the game when Baer's extra point got blocked, that he did it on purpose in order to kick a long dramatic field goal for the win. Ha!

I'm tired tired. That was fun fun.
Every game this season has been a lesson in overcoming adversity. The boys have learned how to win in extreme comditions. Some folks will have their ssses busted next year by the Cajuns and they don't even see it coming. It was a great weekend, great seeing you guys...Glad y'all could see me.

If you look at their ad, they state 3 generations of UL grads. I did not know that. Know I will give them more of my business.

I'm with you RC08, my wife and I ran the 5K (first one) and loved when we switched back with a group of Cajun fans, awesome time to run our first one. The rest of the weekend was something my friends and family will never forget! I'm so proud of our team, I've always been a fan, had to hear it all the time in years past from all my LSU friends, but have always been proud to wear red whenever I can even when times were bad. Boy does it feel good to have my champion shirt on today at the office! Can't wait to repeat next year!

  10. Default The kick heard 'round the state

With four seconds on the clock, UL place kicker Brett Baer clinched the Cajuns first Division 1 bowl title with a 50-yarder Saturday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Click here for ESPN 1420 AM’s Jay Walker and Steve Peloquin’s commentary as Baer ...

And, I think too much time is spent on bashing LSU on this board; at least several threads a week. First off, we live in a unique area of the state with a large number of fans that have associations with both universities. This is not the norm in many other areas and certainly not the norm outside of the state of Louisiana. Because of this, there are a number of people that have dual loyalties; thus the house divided. Now for those people, (you) it’s simply not comprehendible how UL fans cannot support LSU, when it is the norm within your family and circle of friends. Your choice to support both programs is not a problem with me or most reasonable Cajun fans; it’s the arrogance in which you attempt to scold Cajuns fans that do not.

We live in a free society were people should be able to coexist, but where do you and others get off lecturing people about which programs they should support or shouldn’t support? I certainly don’t run around to LSU boards or fans lecturing them on why they should support both programs. Why would people like you even have that expectation? And please spare me about LSU fans supporting UL by large numbers, which is simply nonsense. That may be the norm in your family and circle of friends, but it certainly isn’t the norm around this state or outside of this state. You have the right to support which programs you want, but because you support both it does not give you the right to demand that others do it as well. As I’ve stated, we live in a very unique area and because of that supporting both programs is the norm in many circles. Outside of this area and the state of Louisiana, most of the people that support one program or the other are the norm.
As usual, you're right on with your take....with this exception. Clemson and South Carolina. You're either for one or the other, but you can never be for both, no matter the circumstances. It could be throwing cow patties and you'd have to choose Clemson or USC. The schools are about 100 miles apart, USC is in the center of the state, decent size town, state capital, etc.
Clemson is a 20 minute drive off of I-85 in the boonies of Upstate SC. Clemson is the state Ag School, USC is the research and liberal arts/business school with a medical school. Clemson is ACC, USC is SEC. Two very different schools and two very different and seperate fan bases. Here in NC, the segregation isn't as strong. Duke/UNC Basketball is the exception. That is just a war that fought twice a year...Fans of each school may root for the other whenever one is having some success and the other isn't. But 2x a year, all bets are off the week of the Duke/UNC Basketball game.

Z, the second greatest thing, next to the dramatic bowl win, was seeing you this weekend (place smirk here).

We have the greatest soldier hearts in the nation. The passion got unleashed. We have way too many hands and hearts pulling in the right direction now. The fun has just begun.
