Does any one know if they will post an MP3 file of this call..
Jay, I watched on TV and am just listening to your call of it now.
Honest to God, gave me goose bumps!
Exactly what happened to Devon Lewis-Buchanan? Was it just a freak accident? Someone mentioned something today about a dislocated knee cap in warmups?
I've watched too many UL games. When SDSU got the ball, down by 5 with 2 minutes left, I was feeling like this was going to come down to one of those one-play, winner-takes-all games that I've watched the Cajuns play in, over and over, for several decades.
Then with 40 seconds to go, there's this quiet voice in my head that says, "I kinda wish they'd go ahead and score, before the clock leaves us with nothing." And bang! they did.
The people around me are just about dying. I was far from confident about the outcome, but I'm telling them, "It ain't over, let's see what happens." Then after the penalty I see Hud on the Jumbotron just beaming. You can read his lips, and he's saying, "He's gonna make it, he's gonna make it."
What a game.
What a season.
What a team.
What a University.
Some late-arriving video from the locker room at the Mercedes Benz Super Dome Saturday finds UL President Dr. Joe Savoie getting pulled into a sea of Ragin' Cajuns celebrating their last-second, 32-30 win over the San Diego State Aztecs in the R+L Carriers ...
Exactly, they showed it on Sports line. WHat a shame.
I came to the game from California where I now live and yesterday in New Orleans, Houston and LA I was congratulated by several strangers on the win. (Of course I was still wearing my red to travel.)
I would guess that I was probably one of the few that attended that game from the West Coast who enjoyed my trip home.
One young lady who was a TSA officer at the airport in New Orleans half whispered; "I love the Cajuns, congratulations on the big win." Hearing this in New Orleans was a big change...
One of the many memories for me is at the concert Friday night. A sea of red surrounded the band except for one, very out of place, guy dressed in LSU colors. Most athletic events we go to LSU colors are expected but this guy knew he was out of place and had made a fashion faux pas. How many times have we been the only red in a sea of purple and gold. The irony of the image of that guy surrounded by Cajun fans and feeling so out of place.
1. The Givers at Spanish Plaza were a good time despite the rain. Props to all the fans that stayed despite the rain too. Props to all the people that said F the police and jumped in the fountain.
2. Bourbon Street packed with a sea of red Friday night and Saturday night. Over heard a waiter at Pat O's saying "I'm ready for the tourist to come back, these Louisiana people are too loud and drink too much." LOL!!
3. The awesome breakfast at Stanley on Saturday morning. Can't wait to go back and get the Breaux Bridge again.
4. The whole day Saturday spent with friends and constantly running into old fraternity brohters (and wife's sorority sisters) and other friends from my time at UL was a good time. Rousse's was great, Champion Square looked just awesome. Especially once I started up the steps to the dome and looked back, just amazing.
5. The game speaks for itself, and to share it with 42K+ of my closest friends! Just Awesome, definatley something I'll never forget and will share with my kids and others for a long, long time.
Over all a great, great weekend.
Overall a great weekend with my wife and friends
