NEW ORLEANS — He may be as responsible as anyone, arguably more so than all, for turning a three-win season in 2010 into a 9-4 one that ended for UL with Saturday night's New Orleans Bowl victory over San Diego State. For helping the Ragin ...
I remember after we almost beat a very very good Tennessee basketball team when Jessie Evans was coach...in the words of Dickie V..."You gotta drop the Lafayette this is The University of Louisiana baby!!!" We made Dickie V say our name...now it's time to make the world say it.
Side note...3,000 posts!!!!...I'm wasting life away on the computer...____ yeah!!!!
It's a classy move. I wanna eat some crow here...thought this might be the place to do it. I hate the Saints...wouldn't mind seeing them flushed down the toilet. I know in the past I said some things about the Superdome in general...let me be the first to say...I was wrong. The place is impressive. Champion's Square is impressive. It's a great venue. I take back everything I said about the place. I wouldn't mind seeing a game there in the near future...maybe if the Hawks come to town. Still hate the Saints. Does anyone know what is the deal with the color scheme or pattern of the chairs in the 600's? Was wondering that all night. Was the designer a fan of Breakout type games? And who is Dave Dixon?
Haha! Thanks guys! Man, I haven't heard the reference to the tennis player in a long time. People just don't know who he is anymore.
I'm a freelance photographer out of the Mobile, AL area. There were 2 other guys I normally shoot with there, but I don't think their stuff is up yet. I'll post it here when they put it up.
Got some attention from the Advocate. (at least online)
But you've got to wonder if the writer was even there.
"The sirens of an approaching police escort were no match for the applause and loud screams of 'Go Cajuns, Go ULL' Sunday afternoon at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletic Complex."

Better than nothing though.
Love the in state kindness. I am all about Louisiana being a football powerhouse. I would love to see La tech and LSU win as well.
Seeing dozens of players fron the late 80s and early 90s on Friday and at Champions Square on Saturday was very special for me. I had a hand in recruiting most of them and to see the pride in this program written all over their faces, From Tim Calcagno and Jim Brenner from Chicago who flew in for the game meeting up with Chris Gannon.....To Brandon Stokley revelling in the experience with old teamates like offensive lineman Sam Heinen and defensive end Jeff Mitchell...I will never forget this weekend. It was a homecoming for many of these young men and they are very proud to have worn the colors of their University. You fans have a very large part in this and I want to thank you. All of you gave these young men the support they deserved in their time as you are doing for our young men now. No one loves this University more than the fans on this website and you certainly deserve this Championship.
What was even more impressive in the victory Saturday night is we were without 3 very substantial defensive players in the game.
D-LO--Devan Lewis Buchanan missed the game with a seperated knee cap suffered in practice before the game. Really feel sorry for this kid, he has been a great player for his entire career and to think he missed the biggest game of his career because of a freak accident sucks. Good luck D-Lo, you will be missed. 12 games played this year with 12 starts.
L-Gib--Lemarcus has been a starter for most of his time with the Cajuns and has come off the bench in some games as well. Regardless he is a big time talent that was missing Saturday due to an injury late in the season. It seems as though he will likely get his senior season back and we need him. 11 games played, 11 starts.
Coop--Cooper Gerami, Not sure what happened here, but this sometime starter and very solid Safety was not dressed out for the game. I am not sure if it was injury or something else, but Cooper has been a solid player for us. He played in 8 games this year and was a solid contributor.
Between these 3 players we were missing:
31 games played
135 tackles
12 TFL for 35 yards
1.5 sacks for 10 yards
1 int for 55 yards
1 blocked kick
10 breakups in the D-Backfield
To think that we played with a patchwork LB core in this game and still played solid D for most of the game is really impressive. Can't wait for 2012.
My take on the game
Rushing game--Solid, not great but we ran the ball when we needed to and Alonzo showed flashes of what he is going to do in the future--Grade B-
Passing game--WOW!, the best of the year, Blaine was fantastic and kudos to McGuire for completing the one pass he had to make--Grade A+
O-Line--Did not give up 1 sack, and running lanes were open occasionally and we did this having to replace Leonardo Bates late in the game. B+
D-Line--Only got 1 sack, but we were all over Hillman and put pressure on the QB--Grade B+
LB--Solid in Run D, gave up some plays in passing--B
DB's--Gave up too many 3rd downs, but overall they played well, you could tell we were missing the before mentioned players at LB. Grade--C+
Punt and Punt coverage--Enough said A+
Kickoffs and Kick coverage, overall the coverage was good, minus a play or two but the kickoffs were short like all season--Grade B-
Placekicking--Extra points F, FG A+, overall grade was a B.
Coaching--Except for going for it on 4th down, Hud outcoached Long. A
Overall--Loved it from beginning to end , Cajuns grade was a A-, could have been better, but couldn't ask for a better way to end a special season.
Geaux Cajuns.
Generally speaking, football players have respect for each other regardless of what teams they play on because they know what each other goes through in an attempt to be successful. It is the fans that are the ones that usually cause some issues. That includes some UL fans as well as others.
Dave Dixon is pretty much the reason the Saints and Superdome exist.
