Gus has been mentioned for much higher profile jobs. Too much baggage?

His wife personally assured that BCS schools wont be calling him for a bit. Kansas magically found a new coach after really looking like they would hire him.
Its a perfect fit though...Jonesboro is the one place on the planet where she could go and be forgiven...we have some of the most forgiving people on the planet here...Huge church down. The church ladies here will fawn over her. In exchange our fan base gets one of the best offensive minds in the game and the guy who taught Hugh Freeze how to run the No Huddle.
800K a year with a 2 million dollar buyout... Im still pinching myself to make sure I didnt dream this.
ASU and UL now have the two highest paid coaches in the Sun Belt, and the most well known...who saw this coming 2 years ago?
Congratulations on the hire. It's good for ASU and good for the conference. Also congrats on getting the $2MM buyout into the contract, that really protects ASU.
And the Toolame fans have to be in shock. Many of their fans wanted Malzahn or some other "name". Instead the settle for Johnson and ASU of the "lowly" (at least in their eyes) Sun Belt gets Malzahn.
Couple of things:
A: You Tube must have been posted by a BAMA fan.
B: Don't know the first thing about this guy BUT, Auburn offense sucked before Cam, won a national title after Cam, and offense sucked again this year. So after three recruiting classes AU got a superstar on the rebound, and what else?
I'm not totally sure, but after watching the video, I think she might hold just a little bit of resentment towards kids, husband, ,his job, and her life in general. What a B. "I like honesty". lol
Reading Malzahn will make $800K a year at Arkansas State. He wants a head coaching job and has a chance to go back to a state where he has strong ties for a conference contender. He was the hot coach last year with Cam Newton. Proves that sometimes it's important to strike when iron is hot. Was offered $3 million by Vandy last year.
Sounds like Gus has to say "Shut up!!!!!" an awful lot.
It looks like big schools are putting an emphasis on head coaching experience at the college level along with high level responsiblities at a AQ program.. Freeze and Hudspeth had both of those. Although Mahlzan had been a successful offensive coordinator at Arkansas, Tulsa and Auburn he had no college head coaching experience. As we have seen there is a big jump from a coordinator to head coach. If he wants a big gig he has to fill that void in his resume.
