Not even the NIT?
Not even the NIT?
I would be EXTREMELY surprised if they got an NIT bid. Considering they were a #1 seed getting bounced out of the FIRST GAME of the Conference Tourney? If I were them, I'd be too embarassed to accept an NIT bid!!!

I was reading on the sunbelts site and this loss cannot be pinned on coach Jessie Evans. Turnovers pop up in my mind as why we lost, but MISSED SHOTS was the killer. Brad Boyd shooting 7 of 18 and Laurie Bridges shooting 1 of 9. That is 18 mised shots between 2 guys. Going 3 of 18 from 3 point land is asking for a loss. Cajuns won on rebounds so that is not why we lost. Cajuns won on assists which is a statistic tied to turnovers so that is not why we lost. Fouls were the same so that is not why we lost. The reason the Cajuns lost was missed shots.
Chuck,I will be surprised if the Cajuns get a NIT bid.We lost in the first round of our tournament in a weak conference. If our conference had a higher ranking, then perhaps we would have a shot.I believe if NMSU and WKU make it to the finals, then the loser of that game will get the NIT invite. The loss at home against WKU did not hurt our chances with the NIT,but the losses against Ark.St. and Denver did.
The loss against Denver was not because of effort,I think the kids played hard.I don't agree that somehow Jessie Evans is not part of the problem. When you don't back your assistants at practice when they are attempting to discipline players and you have discipline problems almost every week, then its starts at the top.Lack of discipline on and off the court is hurting this program and I think Jessie is going to have to make some tough decisions during the off season. If he doesn't,it will cost this program a lot of support.Just my opinion.
Yesterday I chose to watch tv all day instead of backing my cajuns. Skipped baseball, skipped the basketball broadcast. One of the shows I watched was the ALAMO and Bouie tells an apologetic Travis " I can't help being me, and you can't help being you."The loss against Denver was not because of effort,I think the kids played hard.I don't agree that somehow Jessie Evans is not part of the problem.
Jesse cannot change. Disapline of players is not something he can stomach. I think this loss will be his Waterloo. We have been exposed, and I predict a steady decline of our basketball program from here on out.
The demise of Jessie began when he let his wife and son run the team back in 2000-2001.
I have tried to rid this bad taste from my mouth, but I can't.
Sorry.

I'm not so sure about this one...:oOriginally posted by Chuck

Well I know broken hearts don't like rewards, last years performance is a good example.
However I for one, hope Louisiana gets a NIT bid. IF for no other reason a NIT bid on the books will do well for posterity’s sake.
I am reminded how a busted-hearted UCLA staff refused a bowl bid, and how the next season the players played without incentive.
On the whole this 2003 squad deserves a NIT bid. A late season collapse not withstanding they deserve an invite.
If Louisiana's season ended last night; they finished 7-3 in their last 10 games. Even if they won the NIT they would finish 7-3 in their last 10 games.
If Louisiana was to lose anywhere along the way in the NIT they would have a 6-4 finish in the last 10 games.
A 6-4 stretch would be their worst all year. Think about it, their worst is a record many schools strive for.
It has been a great year with a disappointing ending.
As a longsuffering Saints fan,I can handle this. The years have trained me well.Originally posted by RaginFan
why am i not surprised the cajuns are out of the conference. ousted by denver no less. typical.
As a suffering fan of the Ragin Cajuns this one hurts because I know how good they could have been.
I agree with you somehow I am not surprised. Still I am not ready for the season to end.
IF ONLY Brad Boyd had shot 4 of 15 (27%) from 3 point land, instead of his 3-15(20%)
And IF ONLY Bridges had shot 2 of 9 (22%) instead of his 1-9 (11%)
Louisiana would have won.
Actually if either one had made that one extra shot, at any time in the game the Cajuns could have played for the last shot instead of having to foul.
That is why I can't blame Jessie for this loss, or simular losses.
