this is great news. Considering it probably would not be hard for Bustle to find a higher paying job I love this move. It helps in recruiting for a kid to know that the coach that recruited him will be there his whole career. Also, it shows confidence in our coach which also helps in recruiting. If we believe in him so will everyone else. Not to mention the guy brought us our first thousand yard rusher EVER! Our first winning season in ten years and a share of the sunbelt championship and he lost his starting quarterback early in the season and had to change the entire gameplan of our offense. Luckily we have desormeaux and it worked out for us. The talent level has improved alot. Most importantly the man puts asses in the seats! Thats a big plus for where our program is right now. So, who ever does'nt like it , go back to baton rouge because that what you sound like! An ungrateful tiger fan!
Using that logic doesn't the future require that you always have him under a multi year deal? If so is this a five year deal or is UL forced to extend his contract in two or three years. If the recruiting logic works now it must be consistent.Originally Posted by crazycajun
From what coach said on the news, this was already in his contract. He said that it was an incentive saying that if they won the conference (i think) his contract would be extended to five total years again.
This is great news. He earned it.Originally Posted by cjr3888
Yeah, b/c our 2-7 basketball team looks really promising. C'mon, with the way bball is looking right now, I'm glad that we're shifting some focus to football.Originally Posted by weareLOUISIANA

The fact is our program would easily quailify as one of the 10 or 20 worst in Division I-A history. Our facilities are subpar. Our budget is the second smallest among Division I-A schools; a mere drop in the bucket compared to and BCS school. And there is little to no support from Martin Hall. So what does this mean?
It means that coaching for UL is like fighting with one arm tied behind your back. So when someone like Bustle comes along, someone who can put up a good fight with only one arm, then you need to hang on to him.
Yes we were only 6-5.
Yes we only won 1/3 of a conference title from the worst conference in IA.
Yes it's nothing to brag about (not that anyone is bragging.)
But for the first time in 10 years we are going up instead of down and if you can't find satisfaction in these little victories then you will have a tough time as a Cajun football fan.

I'll bet you probably assume La Tech is not one of these 10 or 20 schools?
Let's compare.
UL
3 conference championships
10 winning seasons
24 years of 1-A
41.5% winning seasons/years 1-A
Tech
1 conference championship
7 winning seasons
17 years of 1-A
41.1% winning seasons/years 1-A
The FACT is that we have a 1-A record better than A LOT of 1-A schools.

I am curious, how many season tickets do you have? Have you ever given to the UL Athletic foundation? You see I believe if you are not a contributor, why should not have the right to complain, in saying that, if you are a contributor you need to give MORE. the only way UL is gonna grow is fan and monetary support. I know, I worked there for a while and was a budget cut. It was the best time of my working life and would gladly take a pay cut and go back if I could. Let's face it money talks and BS walks.
