Why does this guy keeping getting extensions?? The whole state wanted to fire him after his 1-5 start...yeah, he led his team to the heavenly SunBelt "TRI"-Champions....WOOPTY-FRICKEN DOO!!! Im not saying that he didnt do a good job, but he needs to prove something worth talking about, at least a bowl appearance or something....SunBelt "TRI"-Champs is nothing to brag about people. He needs to prove something before we give him a lifetime salary here, after all, its not like he has any place better to go. He's def not getting offers from BCS contenders. We should take some of this money and give to Coach Robe or the Lotief's, or Lee.....people that have proven that they are winners and are making a name for the University on a NATIONAL level....No one cares about the SunBelt "TRI"-Champs that didnt even make a bowl. They have a little more consideration for the Baseball team that finished 3rd in the Nation, and a contender every year. Or the Softball team that makes it to the WCWS and produces All-Americans. Or the Basketball team that is winning outright Championships, taking a Final Four team(Louisville) to the wire in the NCAA Tourney on CBS(National Television for one of the most watched sporting events of the year) and one that produces NBA Draft Picks, a team that is on the verge of breaking loose. With the support of more people, the basketball team could win one of those NCAA Tourney games and turn the corner that they have been stuck on for several years. Whats Bustle's extension gonna do?? We gonna take a share of the SunBelt again and go NO better than the New Orleans bowl??? Pretty impressive to play in the 1st Bowl game of the season, ____.....at least its better than SunBelt "TRI"-Champs and sitting home watching it played in your own stadium.

Then why don't you support the Tigers like so many former USL fans do. The fact that you are so blunt with your statistics only shows that you probably give diddly squat to the athletic program.

I am curious, how many season tickets do you have? Have you ever given to the UL Athletic foundation? You see I believe if you are not a contributor, why should not have the right to complain, in saying that, if you are a contributor you need to give MORE. the only way UL is gonna grow is fan and monetary support. I know, I worked there for a while and was a budget cut. It was the best time of my working life and would gladly take a pay cut and go back if I could. Let's face it money talks and BS walks.

I agree with you 100%-what happens if this guy goes 8-3 does he get a contract extension for life? he already has gotten 2 extensions in the last 4 years i believe and hes had 1 winning season. Guess im in the wrong profession.

First of all...

I'm not complaining about anything! I am simply stating that there are signifigant challenges that a football coach at UL has to overcome to be successful. And they are many. So when a coach (like Bustle) can overcome these challenges (unlike most of his predecessors) you give the man a contract extension. How is that complaining?

Second, In your opinion how much does one have to donate to UL to earn the right to complain? Not that I was in the first place.

Third, I am a student. A damn poor student at that. So naturally I don't have season tickets cause I payed a fee in my tuition to get into all games free. And I would love to give money to UL athletics but I would rather spend the money on things like food, or books for school, or a new T-shirt every now and then. However I do attend all football and basketball games, and 1/3 of all baseball games. Sorry that isn't good enough for you.

Finally, why the heck would I support LSU? And what did I say in my post that led you to this conclusion?

You should look up those records.

If you did, you would find tht our record as a 1-A program is around the middle of he pack of all 119 1-A programs.

Maybe your hesitant to let go of your perception of UL football ue to the period from '97-'04. We have been 1-A since 1982 when 1-A was founded.

Let it go. We are not losers anymore.

No one, absolutely no one has to look up Division 1-A records. It has already been done. One the homepage you can download PENTATHLELAM.2004-05.xls. This gives you the record for 264 teams in the five major sports. Point proven, settled and ended.

the paper wrote yesterday that only 3 1-A schools have not made a 1-A bowl game in their history, now that 4 'newbies' made bowls this year. ULLaf, ULMon, and Middle Tenn. The latter 2, i believe, made the jump to 1-A in the 90's--thus the only "Charter Member" of the 1-A club to never be in a 1-A bowl game are the cajuns. This would tend to show you are right about their standing with flying colors. So, when the true believers show you various figures showing the historic strength of the program, remember that figures don't lie, but liars use figures.

However, there is a good chance that next year the streak will end as the Cajuns should win the Sun Belt, leaving middle and monroe to fight out the 'futility bowl.'
