Brian Mitchell is going to be an NFL Hall of Famer. He's had the best pro career.
I think it's hard to argue against Ron Guidry. IMHO he has had the most high profile pro career.
When the New York Yankees put you into monument park side-by-side with Babe Ruth, Joe D. and the rest, I think that says it all! Now they are even bringing him back as the pitching coach!!!!!!!!!
Louisiana Lightning Ron Guidry.
Hall of famer Brian Mitchell
That is Future Hall of Famer Brian Mitchell. I think it is close between BMitch and RonG. My vote was for Ron because of his Cy Young award and his induction into the Yankees' Monument Park. I think he'll be in Cooperstown one day too. Brian will likely be in Canton, so it is really close. Being a standout on the alltime best sports franchise in America is what made the difference to me. Can't go wrong with Mitchell though.Originally Posted by JMVCAJUNS
For me, it was a coin flip between Ron and Brian. Both had OUTSTANDING professional careers. I ended up voting for Brian because of him being ranked 2nd ALL-TIME in all-purpose yardage in the NFL, only behind Jerry Rice.
Of course, as you probably know, Brian finished his career in FIRST place ALL-TIME in a.p. yardage. Rice managed to eke out another season or so to pass Brian up. Aarrrrgggghhhh!Originally Posted by Rebel02
I went to school with Leigh. She's got my vote for the "best look'in".
Don't forget a two-time Olympian and Silver Medalist....
Kim Perrot is my choice right now, but some of these careers are still in progress. Starting point guard on several championship teams at the highest level of her sport. Just looking at the number of prospective athletes and very small number of teams and starting roles in the WNBA, it takes a small miracle just to make a roster. To be a starter, you have to be elite. To be a starting point guard on a WNBA championship team several years in a row, you have to be Kim Perrot, because I don't think anyone else has done it.
Jake gets my honorable mention. The number of QBs that have led their team to the Super Bowl is also some improbable fraction when compared to the number of prospectives.
I'm conflicted, even though I voted for Ron Guidry.
I think Ron was the most visible because of the market he played, and the few years where he was possibly the most dominant player in one of the major sports. Cy Young and the gaudy number for those years made him a name throughout the league and the biggest market in sports. They don't put statues outside of this place for any but the most highly thought after in this organization of All Stars.
Andrew Toney "could have been" a possible all star for many years without the injury he suffered, and where that would have taken him past that point is really a mystery.
Kim Perrot was not an WNBA All Star member, but was an All American at USL adn an All Heart member of any team you care to name, and as a result, will always be honored in the hearts of Cajun fans who watched her play and via the "Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award" presented annually by the WNBA.
Brian Mitchell will probably stay number two on the NFL all time yardage list for the forseeable future, but wasn't a name known across all those who follow sports.
