As far as I can remember it has always been UL's tradition at the beginning of the first and second period to stand up until the Cajuns score. Can anyone remember differently or explain why we are standing until the opposing team scores?

Marlin started this last year he wants his team to focus on defense. He asked the fans to help.
I think coach marlin changed it last season.
Its better if we as fans stand up and make as much noise as possible until the opposing team scores its first point because If the Cajuns get a big lead early on, they can control the tempo of the game with a lead from there on out!
The Cheerleaders are allegedly suppose to lead a rhythmic clap for the defense. Tonight, they stood in front of stands and turned watched the game. When McNeese scored, they walked back under the basket without ever doing a dang thing.
I also think it would help if P.A. Guy would announce it as stand until "our defense gives up a basket" instead of how he does it "let's stand till McNeese scores" ... I sit in the visitors section every game, and every game they laugh thinking that we are honoring them in some kind of way.
My little girl is five she refused to stand untill they scored. She said I am not for them lol.
It was like this last year...
Guys, the crowd is supposed to stand until the other team scores! We were doing it ___-backwards for years. Why would you sit down when your team scores?!! It's all about defending and the longer it goes the rowdier it should be. Kudos to Coach Marlin for shedding some light on it.
Makes sense to me.
